  1. Hey all, 3 gun season here is Colorado will be over in a couple of months and i'm already thinking about off-season stuff. Looking to replace my primary AR as its getting a little tired. Was thinking it would be nice to know what guys (and girls) would build if they were going down that road. I know I could just buy a completed rifle from a quality company (but wheres the fun in that). So, if you're game, post your dream build. Would like to know all the components (receivers, barrels, triggers, etc), basically everything. Also, if you feel up to it, an explanation on why you would use what you listed would be cool. Looking forward to seeing the info. Thanks
  2. Has anyone been successful in making a ar15 gas gun work as a 9mm? What are the problems? Not enough gas?

  9. 18" barrel, rifle gas, .223 Wylde chambering, 1:8 twist, no more than 2 pounds. I have found some near misses, but nothing that hits all the specs. The Spike's Lothar-Walther barrels are all of the above, except mid-length gas. The VooDoo barrels are close, but they are 1:7 twist and don't do Wylde. The Rainier SPR barrels have all the specs but are over 2.5 pounds. Am I looking for a unicorn?
  10. This coming Saturday, June 7th is the next regularly scheduled USPSA match for the club. With the usual 4 stages including a classifier. The match starts at 7AM. Please Pre-Register at the link listed here. https://clubs.practiscore.com/june-uspsa-match-phoenix-rod-and-gun-club/register Afterwards, we will again hold the Rifle match starting at 3pm after we change the stages up a bit. Since 3pm is usually the hottest time of the day, we might want to start a little later in the summer. Please let me know what you think. Please also pre-register for that match on this different link: https://clubs.practiscore.com/june-rifle-match-phoenix-rod-and-gun-club/register Pre-Registering is very helpful as is saves me allot of time and helps me to plan for how to best run the match. The continued success of these matches depend on your cooperation with these requests. Due to the heat - This month we will begin set-up for the match on Thursday Night around 8:30 pm. I will also spend the entire day Friday there making sure that the match is ready for you on Saturday. Any and all help is appreciated at any time that is convenient for you. In addition you can shoot the match for free in addition to cash for gas/lunch. Please email me if you can help. azuspsa@gmail.com
  11. Hey guys Im looking for a little feed back on some stages I drew up for a Rifle only match I'm putting on at our club. This is my first time being a MD and designing stages, so I'm sure there are some subtleties that I'm missing. http://s948.photobucket.com/user/jacketjoed/library/rifle%20stages
  12. I am building an AR for 3 gun. My heart wants to go all out, but my wallet wants to save some money where I can. What should I splurge on and what can I save a little on. For example Billet vs Forged receivers, quality of barrels, trigger, etc. I was thinking 18" barrel, but may go with 16".
  13. So, for those of you that shoot 3-Gun matches with shots out to 300-400 yards , how accurate are your rifles/loads or what would you consider acceptable accuracy? 0.5MOA, 1 MOA, 2 MOA, 3+
  14. I just built my first AR and I am having a small problem, hope someone can point me in the right direction. The rifle functions correctly when manually cycled. When fired, the rifle cycles but the trigger is frozen. -- the bolt cycles, the case is ejected, a new round fed Manually cycle and things are fine. Remington ammo AIM Surplus lower, CMMG parts kit, Colt 20" upper, Colt stock and buffer My assumption is that the hammer is not locking back in the cocked position. But that is only an assumption.
  15. What are the merits of each of these options and which one do you feel wins? I've read that the A2 front sight post is the more "reliable" option. I've also read that if your barrel does not have the correct dimples then you don't have the "low profile gas block under free float handguard" option.
  16. Hello, Does anyone have a complete step by step guide for doing this? Pictures would be a plus. I saw some stuff on youtube but would prefer to be recommended to a specific one. I have a new upper, brake on the way but I need to pin and weld it, not wanting to go NFA SBR way. Thanks,
  17. Is the majority of the difference between a 16", 18" and 20" barrel the weight and distance shots, or is there something more that I should consider for my 3g build?
  18. I'm building a 3Gun rifle from parts. I've used all the collective knowledge of this forum to put together the parts list for the build. My goal was to have the lightest, softest shooting rifle for approximately $1,500. The parts list below came at $1,600. The following parts list, which was constrained due to the lack of availability of AR15 parts due to Obama's re-election, is what I'm going to be building. I would like feedback on the list: what works, what doesn't, replacement, etc. Thanks in advance for your input.
