I keep reading posts about how the Stock 3 is overweight for IDPA which is 43oz. so I went and got a lightened guide rod from Patriot Defense, a fiber front sight from Dawson, and some G10 Thin Grips by LOK Grips, and a digital scale. Not exactly sure how to ask this question. I guess it's a multi part question so lets see. First I'll say that I shoot Steel Challenge and USPSA. I have recently lightened my PCC by adding the CODA 13.5" carbon fiber hand guard and Smoke Composites C.F. stock. The gun feels amazing to me and as far as what I'm used to it's perfect.....or is it? Its current weight is 5lbs. 11.5oz. QC10 upper and lower(glock mag) Faxon 16" barrel(thread protector) Taccom extreme 9mm BCG(weight removed) .223 spring 8oz. buffer Elftmann AR10 trigger Holosun HS510C dot Total BCG/buffer weight is just under 20oz. I am considering going with the Taccom ULW barrel which would really lighten the gun overall. My concerns are: Will it be too light? As in, will it be too light to absorb recoil resulting in unwanted dot movement? Will the recoil be "different"? I keep hearing that the ULW barrel produces a different feeling all together. The good thing is that the ULW barrel is fairly inexpensive overall. I know I will have to alter my PCC loads with the much shorter barrel. I also shoot production with a CZ SP-01 so I have plenty of load data for it. Soooo....what's your feedback on the barrel and my situation? Thanks. -
I've been shooting my husband's 22LR Ruger "Target". I love the gun (and the Steel Challenge), so I'm starting to research what gun to buy for myself. I will eventually put a red dot on my gun, but I will probably use the iron sights for a while. I found a poll in this forum, and it indicated that Ruger is very popular with this crowd. I'm OK with that, but now I need to choose between all the available models. I like the heft of my husband's "Target". I understand that excess weight could be a penalty in terms of rapid motion between targets. But on the other hand, the extra weight makes it feel so solid in my hand. Opinions? Also, I find that the beavertail on my husband's gun is sort of uncomfortable when I take a good, high, solid grip. Any fixes for this issue? Thanks in advance for your input!

Ok gents to solve a debate that I've read before but just happened to have the tools to solve. The difference in weight between an open CK Arms Hardcore, and CK Arms Thunder, slides. And I threw my STI DVC limited in for fun. Here is what I got: Hardcore: 11.4oz 326g Thunder: 11.2oz 319g DVC-L: 12.3oz 353g All of these are 9mm, not that it would matter, measured on the same scale. Same day/time. These slides were not stripped so they had firing pins/block, extractor etc. Installed. So as equal as I could easily make it. And excuse me if my grams to oz isn't exact I just read the scale.

I'm about to get into the world of USPSA, I have a G34. My question is are the mag extensions, like the TTI ones really worth it? I know I only have 2 ounces to work with, so with grip plug, talon grips, dawson sights I don't know if they are worth it. After watching videos of matches it seems people reload way before they hit the 15 round mark anyway. It really comes down to if I want the basepads or SS guide rod because having both I believe would put me over the weight and push me to limited, which I don't want to do. Just need some advice from you guys. Thanks.

What is the standard hammer spring weight for an new STI Edge 40S&W? Several old BEnos threads say that a new STI Edge 40 comes with a 21 pound hammer spring. That sounds pretty heavy to me. Do new STI Edge 40's still come with a 21 pound hammer spring? What hammer spring weight do most people use on an Edge that is going to shoot major in USPSA's Limited division? My plan is to shoot 180gr Bayou bullets. I'm more familiar with DA/SA CZ Shadows where the main/hammer spring affects the trigger pull weight of the first double action shot. Seems like the hammer spring functions more closely with the guide rod spring in a single action 1911/2011. I'm eliminating the STI recoil master setup. My plan is to decide on an initial hammer spring weight and then try several different guide rod springs to find a good match.

Hey guys, So I had my SVI re-barreled last winter and I upgraded my 5" sight tracker gun with a 5.4" sight tracker barrel. Slide is still 5", frame is still a butler cut for the 5" slide. I had just kept using my 180 gr bayou load after the change and it has worked out pretty well for me, but I am wondering if a lighter bullet would benefit me at all. I know a lot of people that go up to a 6" barrel tend to choose a load with a 165gr bullet, but what do you do with a 5.4? And does it make a difference that mine is a 5" slide and a hybrid (bull) barrel, as opposed to most 6" guns that have bushing barrels? Thanks for your thoughts, Eli

What's the lightest pull you've achieved? DA/SA and do you have to use certain primers to maintain 100% reliability. Along with how you did it.

I noticed that when dry firing real gun and an airsoft gun that the airsoft gun had less dot bounce while shooting on the move. Upon investigation if found that the airsoft gun has a balance point farther back near the back on the trigger guard while the real guns balance point was forward near the front of the trigger guard. Also the airsoft gun is lighter. It make sense to me that the farther back balance point could improve gun control. I am not sure how the weight effects the dot bounce. Has anyone noticed this type of thing or have any opinion?
