  1. <This thread is under construction - it's just beginning, actually> I've quickly discovered that there is a LOT of good information on this forum pertaining to triggers and springs and dozens of other topics. Even moreso than for other brands... perhaps it's because these guns are still Unicorns to some extent. We only have each other to rely on to help set the gun up as best as possible. Unless I'm missing something, there isn't one centralized location on the forum to find all of the most important posts easily and quickly. So here goes... If you have a link to a vendor, youtube tutorial, or BEnos post which really helped you when building your gun, please post it in here so that I can add it! I'd really appreciate (and will fully credit) additions to the Tanfo bible. 2. Help please. I had only ~300 rounds through my new Defiant Stock Master 9mm small frame when the Viper red dot died. After receiving the replacement from Vortex and reassembly yesterday, I noticed that I can pull the slide really far back and the slide would be stuck back without the slide stop engaged. I don't remember this happening at the range or in past dry firing practices. The slide will move forward when I lightly tap the back of the slide. The recoil rod and spring are stock. I can reproduce this problem with or without the barrel, recoil rod, and spring installed. The slide can move so far back, I can see the sear through the ejection port. None of my other Tanfoglio slides can move this far back, large or small frames, 4.5" or 4.75" barrels. Please let me know if you have some ideas on what's causing this and how to fix it. I did search the forum last night and came up empty. Thank you!
  3. Hi guys, Hoping someone can chime in and help steer me in the right direction here...Shot a little indoor match last night (4 stages) and had several light strikes/hammer falls on each stage. This is my match gun, barely has 1K rounds through it. I have never had this happen with this pistol (practice gun was a different story) so i want to get this squared away before my next match. Here is my current set up: Ammo: Blue Bullets 125g Winchester small pistol primers Vectan BA 9.5 powder OAL @ 1.125 +/- Mixed range brass Pistol: Stock barrel reamed to SAMI spec by Patriot Defense PD BOLO (fitted with the help of PD) 10lb recoil spring 15.5 PD hammer spring PD optimized trigger return spring PD optimized sear spring PD optimized firing pin spring Extreme firing pin (polished) Extreme one piece sear (polished) Extended firing pin block Stock plunger (polished) Stock plunger spring Titan hammer (base and holes polished as instructed) All applicable internals polished for smoother action/lighter trigger pulls, but nothing too crazy (I do not have trigger pull weights to disclose unfortunately) I case gauge every single round i load before matches as well as practice, and this time was no different. I'm not concerned about crazy light trigger pull weights, etc. I set this gun up with the intention of 100% reliability at matches. This is the first and only time she has behaved this way so my initial reaction was a bad/hard batch of primers but I'm not fully bought into that idea yet... I haven't changed a single thing over the past several matches where she ran 100% with this exact set up (ammo included) Thanks in advance for any help/advice you fellow shooters can offer. -Chase
  4. Seen a few people around here running stroked GTs, thinking about throwing my slide on the mill and doing the same. How do you guys feel about your stroked open guns after running them for awhile? Do they shoot any softer? Flatter? Any issues crop up?
  5. This is all "pretend" but I need you guys to answer solid, truthful, and what you thoughts are. ****Admin create Yes/No pole if possible**** and room to explain reasons. MANUFACTURERS, AND COMPANY'S DO NOT COMMENT!!! ( Let's say (pretend) I've got a whole bunch of threaded bull barrels just spun up match grade...the beesknees. But then I blow your face away by also saying more universal and I also have a pile of NOT GT comps. Both sizes and items fit, limited, S2, and Gold team. Let's "pretend" I'm not going to release this stuff or even begun designing únill I've got a bunch of input. Also don't get too excited yet. This is purely hypothetical. What if you could buy a GT, ditch the v12 and factory barrel and drop parts readily available, simpler than 2011, as fast, soft ect and at almost 1/2 the price of a Domina or aNY Custom? Who would be like F*** yeah!!! And actually buy a Tanfo open gun. If a pretend package was available? Like I'm gonna just say GT 2k and open package 600. So let's just pretend about 3k you have a shorty or middy that's simpler than a 2011, same stroke length, and all the same damn benefits. In? Or Out. Even if you don't shoot or plan on open let's hear some weigh ins. Pretend I won the lottery. But let's not get over zealous or make assumptions. I sincerely am baffled. If the parts are there, for a BETTER, SIMPLER, platform wouldn't people build, or is the 2011 thing a followers fad and it's just had more market so everyone is worried about taking a chance and just plays follower? 6. Hello, Recently, I sent a brand new Tanfo Stock II over to Patriot Defense for their patented tuneup and barrel reaming. They also installed the extended firing pin, titan hammer, bolo, one piece sear, and Xtreme trigger. Out of the box the trigger was PHENOMENAL, both in DA and SA. Unfortunately, the first range trip was plagued with failure to feeds, and a weird "ca chunk" whenever the slide cycled. After perusing the forums here, it seemed I needed to chamfer off the breechface edge and polish the breechface. I got in contact with PD and they confirmed it was probably the breechface edge issue and gave the go ahead to chamfer the edge while also telling me Tanfo's need a 1000 rounds to break in. They even stated there were no issues when it was test fired at their facility? I chamfered off the edge and breechface little by little like everyone suggested until the failure to feed issue stopped, but the "ca chunk" continued. Thinking this issue stemmed from the wolff 8lb standard recoil spring, I tossed in a wollf 10lb standard spring to no avail and a factory 14lb spring which yielded the same result. After noticing weak ejection with softer ammo and sometimes rounds getting stuck with the slide out of battery, I bought a new extractor with the (9) stamp and an XP extractor spring to cross this off the list (the original had a bunch of machining marks and no (9) stamp). Next range trip, the "ca chunk" continues and within 100 rounds two were somehow stuck in the chamber while the slide was 1/8"- 1/4" out of battery. I had to take the gun apart to get the rounds out since the slide was stuck. This makes me think there is something wrong with the barrel after it was reamed, maybe. The mags I am using are brand new K9s. The issue happens with all mags (12) and all ammo. Everyone that has seen it in slow mo and shot it agrees it's not cycling right. Any thoughts??
  7. On Tanfoglio.it they updated their catalogue. Lim Custom back in chrome and a new ' remarkable' X on the grips of Xtreme models...
  8. OK, I know the differences between these 2 gats has been discussed at length before, but I've yet to see a direct comparison strictly on the grip size. From what I've read, the Stock 2 has a shorter trigger reach, but may also have a larger grip? That seems somewhat counter-intuitive to me. Background: I started with a Glock 34, and really like the large, blocky grip that the Glock offers (but that's about it, lol). I then switched to a Shadow 2 earlier this year as it was readily available. I love the gun itself, the trigger, and the accuracy, but honestly I index much quicker/better with a Glock. I'm running Henning grips which helps but still would like a larger/blockier grip like a Glock or 2011. I have XL hands and long fingers, so when I hear the Stock 2 grip is better for large hands, it has me thinking I'd like to give it a try. Unfortunately I don't know anyone at my local club that has one to try out. Any feedback from those with large hands?
  9. Has anyone been able to get their 170 MBX mags to run reliably? Not having a open 170 mag kinda stinks. Heard of the "squeeze" but have not heard if this was a final resolution for a trust worthy big stick. Info appreciated.
  10. It seems that the Tanfo Stock II Elite's in 9mm are out of stock everywhere in the US. I've heard from one major gunsmith that EAA hasn't imported any since May of this year. Does anyone know what's going on? Did Tanfoglio pause production of this model? Anyone have any insight into if/when they might be available again??
  11. First of all, I found the the head (shown in the green circle ) of T3 disco will contact with the Stock 2 frame, and contact surface is rough . My friend told me the disco in his cz75 shadow does not contact. My question is "do they mechanically have to contact or not? If not, can I file some metal to make T3 not contact with the frame to reduce the pull weight further? Thanks.... Update: I have found that the head (shown in the green circle ) of T3 must contact with the ramp of the frame to support the hammer to go far enough to reach the DA break point. Just polish the contact surfaces on both T3 and frame, that will reduce the pull weight about 8oz. Do not file too much material on the disco, or you will lose the DA and destroy the disco.
