  1. I’ve been reloading 9major with the Dillon sizing die and wanted to get a little more pressure on the bullet, so I picked up a Lee U die. When I set up the U die it’s not not sizing or I’m getting a bulge at the bottom of the case and failing the case gauge. I set set up the die as low as it will go and am using case lube. Anyone else have similar issues or an idea what I’m setting up incorrectly?
  2. Lots of cracked slides these days caused by less than perfect metallurgy, hardness, fitting, etc.. compounded by high pressure 9major loads. My goal in developing a great load is to maximize performance while NOT destroying me or my gun. The common sense recommendation is to use a slower powder to reduce case pressure. OK, slower powders measured & ranked how? Powder manufacturers charts are considered 'guidelines' as to 'relative' burn rates, and should maybe be considered most accurate with their own product? Add to this, the different burn rate charts available have conflicting ranks among the most popular powders used for 9major. And now for the rule of thumb Slower powders usually require more charge weight than fast powders to achieve the same velocity (assuming same bullet, barrel, primer & cart.). More conflict. So all of this has got me thinking... (probably over-thinking) The following is compiled from my own 9major load data over the years. This is a high level comparison - not a true apples to apples, since this is with 4 different barrel configurations, different temps, etc.. The last column is the charge weight of a 100% full 9mm case. Nice for relative density comparisons.
  3. Hi, I'm going to compete in the IPSC National (160 PF) and I dont know the data with 3n37 + Precision Delta 124JHP + CCI Barrel 5,4 No Holes Some help ? Thank !!!!!! J+
  4. Noticed the back of my actual optic and the glass on the backside is getting pretty dirty with soot/carbon. Is this normal? 2011 platform cheely mount DPP optic. Thinking of of switching to the Everglades mount to help get it back more, should I be worried about a early unlocking?
  5. I'm new to reloading and new to 9 major. I have a quick question, how specific is 9mm brass needed in reloading for 9 major? I think I've read somewhere that you can't reuse 9 major brass as often and some say because of the pressure the wouldn't reuse it at all. I've also just stumbled across +P brass which I didn't even know was a thing. Should I stick with only new brass, once fired brass, processed range brass or +P brass?
  6. Bit of a pickle, need some help from the Enos consensus. My (first) open gun will be here Monday. I'm dead set on having popple holes added to it because I want that. Yes that's not a good reason, no, I don't care. Its going to be around the first of the year before I can get the holes done, but I want to shoot her! If I spent all this time load developing will I have to start over once I add the holes? What im looking for out of my open load in order of importance to me: 1. Flat 2. Felt recoil isn't excessive 3. Makes PF without spilling over the case. 1 & 2 vary from person to person, 3 isn't that important because I know with the powders I've chosen to try I will make it. The gun has an akai comp on it that the previous owner says shoots very flat (he was loading 7.2 of WAC under a 124gr) with just the comp, I just like the idea of popple holes and if I can't have fun with my race gun I might as well go back to production. OPTIONS! 1. Work up a load that works good now with just the comp. shoot that and then reavaluate with chrono to make sure I'm still good after the popple holes. 2. Work up a load and shoot now and then re do everything after I add the 2 3/16 popple holes. 3. Just wait till I have the popple holes. Try and get my fix from dryfire. 4. Work up a minor load using a fast powder for your indoor matches that require minor, then after the popple holes work up a major load. Powder i will be using to make a 9 major load: HS-6 Autocomp Silhouette accurate #7 please help me oh great open shooters
  7. I've been researching this forum for 2 months now and have gotten so many different answers and opinions that my head is spinning. Anyone willing to help a novice reloader get a test batch loaded and not destroy my brand new Zev race gun? I am looking for a 9major recipe using the following components: Zev Open G17 with a KKM match barrel and a Zev Major comp. Reloading components: Montana Gold 9mm 124 gr JHP Mixed range once fired brass Winchester small pistol primers HS-6 (I already have found great tips and recipes for using Autocomp, so no need to share recipes for that powder) My questions: What's a reliable OAL for use in the Glock? Most of the answers i'm getting revolve around a S_I or custom 1911 What's a good start and max load with powder? My goal is 1375 fps using a F1 Shooting Chrony. One last note to share with you all: I've asked Zev to share what recipe they use to QC the pistol and their answer was that they don't share recipes. All I can surmise is that this is a liability issue.(?)
