OK, I'm having some issues getting my idea accomplished and I figured this forum would be a good place to try to get some info and or help. I have a Witness Match in 10mm. I would LIKE to install a compensator (2/dual port preferably) on it but it is becoming a difficult process. I know I'll need a longer barrel (6") and a longer guide rod, both will need to be cut down and the barrel will be threaded. The current guide rod spring should be usable. I've contacted EAA and Tanfoglio and neither one has a "kit" that will fit so that's out. I could buy a standard upper and and comp kit but that gets spendy and defeats my purpose of buying a Match. Does anyone have any ideas or helpful info. I know it won't be cheap but it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg plus my first born. I have found one used comp on a different forum but the person doesn't respond to emails. One last question, is a .40 comp the same as a 10mm? I know the diameter is the same but does the longer cartridge make a difference? Thanks to anyone who can help

Hey guys I’m hoping for some help because I’ve never owned a 1911/2011 and I’m planning on jumping feet first and doing a build. i currently own a Glock 40 for the woods, an HK USP45 tac for home, and a 9mm target gun. I’ve been getting into 80% lowers and Cnc and I have been considering trying to replace all 3 pistols with essentially 1 2011 frame/trigger and a 9mm, 10mm, and 45 slide. Is it possible to interchange slides like this? Are the magazines all the same size? any help would be greatly appreciated, it’s hard to find info online and I really am jumping into This blind.

I bought a Tanfoglio Hunter in 10MM to replace my Glock 22 and I love the gun. Has anyone done any great mods that they would like to pass on? Has anyone shot .40 cal in the 10MM barrel? I have heard about people doing this but I have not done any research in this area.

I've got a problem with my 10mm Witness Elite that I've not seen referenced anywhere. I load 180 JHPs to 1250 fps and am using a Wolff 20 lb recoil spring and a 22 lb hammer spring to try to control the slide velocity. I also welded up a FPS and created a flat bottom FPS but that didn't help much. Seems the FPS hits too high on the hammer to have much effect by using a flat bottom. So here is my issue. When I swap out my 40S&W barrel to 10mm, I install the 20 lb recoil spring on a Henning Conefit guide rod. Except the spring is almost impossible to install. It doesn't want to clear the edge of the dust cover unless I hold my mouth just right and rotate the spring in incremental steps until it finally just squeezes in. I'd like to go up to a 22 lb spring but if I have this much trouble with the 20 lb, I don't think I'd be able to get a larger spring in no matter what I do. I have no trouble with the standard recoil spring for the 40S&W, by the way. Is anyone else having this problem and, if so, what did you do about it? I'm thinking of taking my Dremel to the dust cover and sanding a slight bevel on the trailing edge where the spring slides under to see if that helps. Ideas?

I've been eyeballing the Witness Hunter in 10mm but being that I have very little chance of coming across one, I was wondering if you can describe the grip? I'm afraid of ordering one sight unseen without having a good idea of the grip. I love the grips on my 1911's as well as my CZ75 (SP01), but feel that the grips on the Glock 20/29/40 and Beretta 92 are a little to wide for my taste. How would you compare the grips on the Tanfo Hunter (10mm) to these?

I've got an Elite Match in 40S&W but I'm kind of wishing I'd bought it in 10mm instead. Would I be good just buying a 10mm barrel and mags (and increasing recoil spring rate) or is there more to this? Also, where, aside from EAA, can I get a 10mm barrel? Anybody got one hanging around and like to get rid of it? Thanks. Doug

Greetings all, I will be picking up my new (first Tanfoglio) Stock II 10mm from my FFL tonight, and I have a few questions. I've read through most of the posts on the sprinco and Henning recoil options, but most of them seem to be a few years old. I was wondering if anyone had recent feedback about which one they prefer - Sprinco recoil reduction or Henning cone guide rod. I will be shooting a mix of handloads and factory in varying power levels. How have these systems held up over time? Will the Henning system allow the greatest flexibility with varying loads? Also, what is involved in swapping to .40? Do I need the entire top end, or just barrel and magazine? Thank you all for your help, and I look forward to my first Tanfo! J

Hi all, I recently took possession of my new 2011 5" in .40 SW for my IDPA/carry/steel gun and I have some questions regarding converting it to 10mm. Please refrain from the arguments for or against carrying a 2011 for personal protection. I have weighed all the options and am comfortable with it. I've trusted my 6" and before that a stock STI 5" Edge in competition for thousands of rounds and think its worth it. Any how, I already load for .40 and have 10mm brass on hand, with a new KKM 5" bushing barrel en route to me and will be fitted by a competent gunsmith. I have been doing my reading and understand about a heavier recoil spring (20-24#, correct?), but do I need to worry about anything else? I have both tuned 140mm mags for my race gun and 4 126mm mags that have been tuned but non-professionally. My current mags should feed and handle 10mm, correct? I load to 1.180 currently with .40 with no feed issues. Is there any thing I'm missing from a gunsmithing point of view that I should consider before taking the plunge? Standard load practices of working up and taking it slow are going to be taken. I would like this to be a hog gun/personal protection piece. Can't lie and say that 17+ of 10mm sounds like a good insurance policy. Thanks for your input. -John

Hi Guys...You all were a great help on my other 10mm tread so I took one posters advice and bought 8 pounds of longshot which is inbound right now. I also bought 1000 heavey plated RMR 180gr to go with the longshot.. Soooo..I assumed that I would find lots of loads due to how much everyone loves longshot in the 10 mm.. I found exactly 1 load on Hodgens website and of course not for a 180gr RNFP plated bullet.jezzzz...I am sure I could start working it up around 8.5 or something but I wanted to check with you guys to see if you might have any data to share.. Also..Any 155gr 10mm RNFP plated data using csb-1, longshot, would be helpful as well... Again, Thanks in advance!!

Does anyone know if they exist, where and how much for 10mm(.40cal), ballistic tip, 200+ grain, jacketed projectiles? I like Nosler and Hornady but open to others. I'm trying to extend accuracy range past 50 yds. and I just think they would look cool. If anyone has tried them I would love to hear how they perform. FYI, this is for my pistol, a match witness with extended barrel and comp.

OK, I used to reload 12 gauge shotgun back when I was a kid but now I'm seriously thinking about reloading 10mm (and hopefully others soon) pistol ammo. What do I need? How much will it cost me? What should I stay away from? You get the idea. I'm not into super hot loads, more of accuracy, especially at longer distances (I sight in at 50 yds). Pistol is a Tanfoglio Match Witness that will soon have a compensator and has a halo sight. Thanks for any help you can provide

Is there anyone who can fabricate/make/turn a 1/4" longer guide spring rod for a reasonable price? My existing guide spring rod is the hourglass style and is 4-1/8" long for a Match 10mm. I need the extra 1/4" to stick out the "outgoing" end of the pistol to accommodate the addition of a compensator. Please send contact info, price and timeframe. -
Hi everyone! I was told there might be some guys on here that can help me with my Witness. I have the Witness .22/.45 and I am looking to get the 10mm and .38 Super longslide conversion kits. I have heard the Witness has problems with the slides and frames cracking so I was looking into Wolff replacement springs. I am not sure if I need them or which ones to buy if I do. Can anyone help me out with this?
