I think Texas will be our last place, though we still need to buy a house. We're here because my father-in-law is in declining health and my wife is the "get things done" person in the family. Without her efforts, he would already be gone. Now, hopefully, he'll live long enough for me to get older and grumpier, and she'll want to be around family when I croak off. Funny note, my avatar is from one of my earliest IDPA matches. It's in Wilkes county, the ground is frozen solid, and the white on my arms is my long johns.

Understood. A lot of people seem to want classifications and classifiers, and that takes organization and funding. If I understand correctly, so far a person/club can choose to participate in the system-to-be or not. The rules are currently less complex, and explicitly state that the local clubs can alter them as needed. USPSA does the rules and classification stuff well, and sets a high standard for a shooting sport. I was a memeber for several years, and usually the guy that made everyone else look blazingly fast. My contribution was helping on stages, and I dutifully revalidated my RO/CRO cert each year. When the BoD kicked out YML for nothing, and thier own behavior seems questionable, I had to decide if this was the sort of organization I wanted to represent. It isn't, and I left. That's why I'm happy to look at PCSL as an option. Others have their own reasons, and none of us should disparage those who remain in USPSA. We all have a choice.

No, this was a few years ago in SC. Since the WSB had the start position, and as jogging backwards is something I'm not safe doing even without a firearm, my plan was to turn around, run to the back of the stage, face down range, and then draw. I had to leave early, though, and missed all the "fun".

The rules don't look too complicated, but they do seem to be written for quick reference and clarity. No matter what I think of the USPSA rules, the rulebook was laid out well and written well. Much better than I could do, and for the most part they withstood much of the gamer-isms people tried to come up with. Not all of it, of course; gamers never seem to give up trying to find a loophole.

Yeah, I've seen some odd stages in other sports. At one, you were down range, and the expectation was that you were going to job backwards and engage left and right. I guess they didn't care that the entire bay was slick mud, and that they were begging for a bad accident. It really depends on the local range staff, doesn't it? You could do the same "run, run, pew once, run, run" thing in USPSA, and maybe IDPA too. That's one reason I started shooting steel, much less movement.

My family is from Wilkes county, but I'm currently exiled to Texas. If I can get back to green country for a spell, I'll holler at you all.

Thanks, guys! I'll clean them up and tumble them after loading.

Hey all, I could use some advice. I have a small pile of soft lead bullets with wax rings. They have been through several moves and storages, and have accumulated a good bit of dust and grit. I'm afraid to load them, they might clog/damage the dies. Any suggestings on cleaning them that won't mess up the wax ring?

Some idiot left ammo in his mags, and the blaster locks back after the next to last round. What's a long term reliable spring option? Asking for a friend.

Wind was behind me today. With 20 shots at 25 yards, even the fliers stayed within a 1 1/8" square.

Well, it was a slightly breezy day, but the berm blocked some of it. 15 shots in a 2.5" x 2.5" square, up and left of the bull. Sadly, the lower right edge had the only hits near the bullseye. I'm not sure what's going on, but I could use some critique. Here's what I know. I am left handed, and shot from a concrete bench with bags front and rear. Breezy day, slow fire. Bergera B14R, and had been sighted in at the same range, a few months ago. Ammo is Remington Thunderbolt 22LR. 50 yard distance, and scope was clear on the target. The 2.5 x 2.5 inch square was mostly upper left to the bullseye. The rifle would often settle to the right. Given Bergara's reputation, I'm pretty sure it ain't the hardware. What do I need to do differently?

20 MOA base on order, we'll see how the optics fit when I get them.
