Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. That is what I was looking for. Thanks for posting it. Looks like fun.
  2. Kyle, Thanks for the heads up. I generally have the weapon locked in a easy access vault built into my truck. If you read my What I hate post. I recently lost my old XD carry and equipment due to some low life so I added a console vault to my truck. I also read where some matches frown on daily carriers showing up loaded so I did have that in mind....Which again expounds upon why this is a great place to be for anyone wanting competition shooting information.. You guys are great thanks. Gene
  3. Im in the northern panhandle, near wheeling. I asked around and I travel into and out of Columbus and Western Pa. I was in Texas DFW area for the last five years yet spent nearly 200-250 days a year on the road as a public safety systems engineer. I have witnessed an IDPA match thought it was cool and joined in 09 yet didnt get a chance to shoot in a single match. I was hoping to watch a few uspsa matches and Gem city came up as the soonest (ie before I have to find a real job again) But to answer your question I hope to shoot both styles in and around the area this summer. My kids wanted me to quit traveling for work so we moved back home for good. Maybe? Thanks for the info. Gene
  4. My stock XDM 3.8 Carry gun?? I will have it but i wont be shooting the first day. Iam a safe "practicer" but want to see what it looks like before i commit to utter embarassment, lol plus hopefully by the second match i will be able to tell who is laughing at me by name instead of just shirt color
  5. Wow this thread died a long time ago so my assumption is no real users in this arena. I just received my Barrett Upper in Rec 7 shipped from the clearance run. Guess I will have to wing it and post what i find out.
  6. I always prefer to carry a handgun over a rifle....the flash hider scratches my shin too much....
  7. Thanks. I will setup the trip and vluc sent me Matt's email so I will let him know appreciate the response.
  8. For all you W. Pa folks, I am hoping to drive up to the range and observe a match or two I have been an IDPA member for two years and have yet to attend a single match I finally think I may be in one place long enough to finally get to do more than practice. Is this range setup to accept "watchers"? Any info would be appreciated. I know that January has 2nd and 4th Sunday matches. Thanks, Gene
  9. Hmmn....Interesting??? ????? My timing is impeccable I just read about "The Flake" so while untimely I can assure you my sole intention is to mine information. If that was what was interesting, if not then I do not understand the reply.
  10. Thanks for the reponses. I am beginning my first 1911 build and have finished my third black rifle build out I will leave those comments for the other areas. Thanks guys.
  11. Gene, First, welcome! Nice to finally hear from you! Second, no...time-in-grade doesn't count toward Classifieds privileges; nor should it. The Classifieds are a perk afforded to members who meaningfully contribute to the core mission of this site -- the collective improvement of our shooting skills. That's the "cover charge". Not only do those exchanges let us benefit from your experiences, but give members a chance to get to know who they're dealing with. Thanks, for the response. I understand the classified cover charge. I have purchased from them in the past and have bought quite a bit from the BE store. I was more concerned with a super lurker status, Like "professional student" or similar. In reality I just decided it was time to start contributing hence the previous post. I also wanted to clarify I do not wish to sell anything (I need all I have and then some) I do remember in the past people joining under various alias names to "mine" Brian's membership for personal profit. Anyway thanks again.
  12. I have been a registered member since 06. I was lurking here long before that and have since had exchanges with Brian, Flex and a few others with concerns and feedback. While I understand rankings here are based on Post count and duplicate questions without searching for it having been previously asked is generally frowned upon but still normally answered here without much grief from the experts on this site. Now on to my question / concern. I dont have have a closet full off stuff to sell nor am I looking to be able to list in the classifieds but could time spent on here be considered a positive as well as post count? I do not have alot of expert advice to pass along nor do I think single word bumps or +1 to be meaningful additions to a thread. Is time logged in tracked or considered in evaluations of members worth? Thanks. Gene
  13. Hopefully they will cut their finger off with your knife I can only hope. Would prefer they shoot their big toe or male pride off. Thanks for the sentiment though...
  14. Had my truck broken into at an OKC hotel while working for the Local PD. They stole my carry gun and versapak with 6 mags, surefire light, my neck knife, they whole nine yards. They biggest thing is my neck knife was on my dog tags from the gulf war. Totally sentimental and non-replaceable. I won't get into the whole list of items stolen but it totaled over 4k. I was told the bums hit over 20 vehicles in the area. I always bring it with me into hotel but worked in non carry area all week so I dropped my guard and left it that night only.......I Hate Thieves..
