  1. and thats why they dont belong at sanctioned matches.. Yep they are fun,,, but I have never seen them scored correctly every time.. and this includes at USPSA Nationasl.. Scoring them correctly would bring matches to a screaching halt. They simply arnt reliable enough
  2. Icore, or uspsa rules thats a REF and mandatory reshoot.
  3. LOL,, u dadblamed gamers... !!!! get off my lawn !
  4. anyone else get the hypocracy with the whole real world thing ? Randomly spraying live rounds throught the crowd ? A-OK... dropping a mag on the ground with an unfired ground.... OMG OMG much wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth... LOL Really id just like to find a match that I can shoot in half a day..
  5. quite a few guns do, and quite a few have flared frames.. I just find it ridiculous thats where the line is drawn..
  6. yeh, VV used to be the gawdawful expensive powder,, last time I shopped it was the same price,, just every thing else caught up
  7. you completely miss the point. Point is,, of all that stuff on the gun, the funnel,, which is probably stock, and pretty much meaningless, is the only part thats not allowed.
  8. adjutomatic holster, all that add on gadgets, not a single stock part required out side the frame, huge thumb break "take down lever" and its the mag funnel on a 25 round gun, thats probably stock, that's the rules problem..
  9. I saw a 45 ACP one not run 100% in bowling pin matches. Which was kinda surprising, as they arnt a cheap date and figured they would be pretty good., Honestly I only ever saw Storms, and Rugers run 100% most of the time, but those werein 9mm and didnt do well. Seems carbine class was always won by the guy that got his 45 to run 5 strings in a row.
  10. yeh but then we need a beta tester.. LOts of folks have fired lots of majors in typical 1911 set ups and not died, so we dont have to go uncharted. Avg pressure sends rounds down range, peak pressure blows up guns. With the slow powders folks are running and the fact its making all that gas to work a pistol comp leads me to believe the pressure hasnt peaked in the short barrels and the already off the chart pressures would go even higher in a closed 16" barrel.
  11. most guys running really fast powders in 40 major are running longer than spec ammo, which tend to work better in 1911 type platforms. Truckloads of tight group have sent truckloads of 180's down range at 170 pf,, Has probably been the most common loading for many years in the US.. Cant speak for 175 though.. If you arnt comfortable with tight group,, a simple look at a burn rate chart and what is available in your area should suffice.. PIck a powder with a slower burn rate which should get your velocity with lower pressure. Reloading manuals should be full of 180's at 980 fps loads.. Thats pretty much standard 40 stuff.
  12. Corbon 125 +p in a 5" 1911 is 164 pf,, and only pics up a few fps in the longer barrel carbines. 169 in the Berreta storm
  13. I am in Marion Kansas, moved here from Virginia a couple years ago.. I have shot steel up around Topeka and ICORE east of there. bit of a hump for me.. I pretty much just shoot the Icore when I can. Not worth the drive for Steel challenge. There are a couple places north of you, but they dont really keep their websignts updated, so not 100% sure whats going on with me. If you are into track meets with some shooting there is a PCSL 2 gun club that is getting started, they put out their stages on face book. They should be pretty local to you.. IIRC a bit south of Wichita. I get home in May and am gonna look into the club in Hutchinson.. See what kinda matches they do.. I think it was USPSA
  14. with the time and money it would take you to do this project. You could load a bunch of 9mm then switch your press back to 45.. But eh if we went by logic we'd all have lots of room in our gunsafes. I have my IDPA gamer gun.. Single stack 1911 40 I built years ago on a caspian frame gathering dust in my closet.. Should break it out. Probably been 15 years since I shot it. I built it in Hawaii 10 round land, So shot standard with the the longer extended 10 round mags... Briefly tried to get normal length 10 rund mags to work without success. FIgured out I was better off with 9 round mags in IDPA and used those for a year or 2 after leaving HI.. Think I shot one single stack USPSA match and felt like a 1 legged man at an asskicking contest. IIRC I used a Barsto bushing barrel.. I have an old 40 Para ramp para ordnance 40 bushing barrel laying around somewhere if you arnt in a hurry you can have. Seems like I ran across it recently looking for something else. I get home first of may can look for it.
  15. the precision moly coated smoked with tight group, they even said dont use it.. I mean t wasnt enough to really cause much issue.. I think once on a really hot humid day with no wind and sun at the right angle it was pretty noticeable . I still have quite a bit of it, and pretty sure I am mostly using Bayou bullets these days.. I have a case of 38 short colt sitting at home and some Bayou 147's,, may load some up,.. Guess thats a side affect of chasing latest greatest,, or changing sports/ platforms.. You end up with lots of partial jugs of powder. Ive got plenty of American Select, WST , tight group, AA2, and clean shot that all do about the same thing...
