Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. We are going to have some new classifiers out in the next month or so... The first release was to get the ball rolling. The new ones... you can expect to see more movement and less standing and shooting from a box. They will be testing skill sets that you would actually encounter at match. Should have a higher fun factor too.

    stage Set up

I usually put the fault lines down last... but I tend to draw some fairly complex layouts. I'll usually start in either the up-range left or right corner laying out the walls, barrels, steel and stands... then I'll put the final tweak on the position of the target stands. In a complicated field course, I really hate to have to pull up a wall or section of walls because I initially set them in the wrong place.(I do make the occasional mistake) so I started throwing in measurements on the setup drawings, which has allowed me to hand a couple of stages off to some of the other guys helping with setup. They get them roughed in and I'll put the final tweaks on it. Here is one of the stages I used last weekend at out monthly match at South River Gun Club.
  3. Shooters Connection is where I got mine... but that was a couple of years ago... EZ-SBR Cheekeeze Ezee Shotgun Bolt Release $12.00 http://shootersconnectionstore.com/Cheekeeze-Ezee-Shotgun-Bolt-Release-P187.aspx
  4. Just be glad there aren't any low ports in the stage...
  5. I'll have to agree with you... "Require" is the key word here. Options that we build into stages are created by offering multiple presentations of the same targets. I do it that way all the time. It would get boring really fast if we were limited the other way around.
  6. It has a softer feel than Atlanta Arms & Ammo sub-sonic 147 JHP rounds, yet still snappy. The muzzle flip was reduced quite a bit too. I used to load for my son 3.4g WSF with a 147g Precision bullet with an O.A.L. of 1.11, but I used a Winchester small magnum primer. This load worked great in a Glock 34 with a Bar-Sto barrel. It made 131-133 PF quite consistently.
  7. Just got back from the range test firing the SLP.. after putting the Glock springs in (trimmed about 3/16" off of one of them) and bent the front of the lifter down... So I figured I'd try the worst feeding ammo first (the Federal bulk pack from WalMart) Went thru 50 rounds and there were no malfunctions what so ever. I even fired it with the ejection port turned over to the right, facing straight down.. it ran flawlessly (to my surprise)Ran another box of Remington Gun Club through it and again no problems at all. I'm completely happy with the way it's running now... at last!
  8. Out of the thousands of shooters that I have run... I can only recall having the opportunity a few times to be in a position to touch the arm of the shooter and prevent them from doing something stupid with their muzzle.. and that was at the end of the C.O.F. after they had stopped moving through the course. I've been swept on several occasions, all of which I let the muzzle pass by me before stopping the shooter. I couldn't have stopped them if I wanted to.. 99% of the time, human reaction times aren't fast enough to catch them before they break the 180. Now on a stand and shoot stage it could be easier to prevent.
  9. Try this: Engage targets as they become available from within the fault lines. The space at the bottom of the Left Wall is a port. For visual clarity, you could emphasize the port by painting a brightly colored edge around it. The rest of the stage is covered by 2.2.3.3
  10. Happy Birthday Bro...
  11. The best starting position that I've ever heard was at a Level III match a few years back... "Standing Erect in Box-A" I was the first shooter and I told her that I would need a minute to comply!
  12. If this guy is bothering the majority of the shooters on your squad, then I would direct him to refrain from the excessive running on of his mouth and politely tell him he is being a distraction to the competitors. You'd have an entire squad to back you up on your directive... then if he doesn't comply, give him a warning... then when he still doesn't shut up... 10.6.1 Give him his bus ticket. 10.6.1 Competitors will be disqualified from a match for conduct which a Range Officer deems to be unsportsmanlike. Examples of unsportsmanlike conduct include, but are not limited to, cheating, dishonesty, failing to comply with the reasonable directions of a Match Official, or any behavior likely to bring the sport into disrepute. The Range Master must be notified as soon as possible.
  13. See the following thread, I found several on the subject while troubleshooting. It moves the point of contact between the lifter and the shell as it feeds into the chamber. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=131323 Makes sense, yet another shell alignment modification... I'll give it a try. Right now, it seems that the Wally World Federal Bulk pack is about the only stuff that mine won't feed 100%.. I'm hoping that bending the forward end of the lifter down a bit will take care of that problem. It's going to be a couple of weeks before I can get to the range to check out the mod. I'll post the results... Thanks
  14. Curious.... What is a Benelli bend?
