  1. Out of my G17 I run 4.5gr 231 124gr coated at 1.135~OAL. AVG 1145fps SD 5 ES 15 AVG PF 142 from 10rn sample.
  2. I have one from HF and it gets the job done can be a little loud at first but what compressor isn't. If you want it cleaner looking you can do what this guy did, start at 4:45
  3. I decided to get the 650 over the 1050 thinking that I wouldn't shoot enough to justify the 1050..........well I was wrong and am looking into picking up a 1050. I would go with 1050 and if money is an issue just start with one tool head and make large batches like other have said.
  4. Break out the calipers and check if it is centered then shoot it at 25 meters. Every time I get a new gun and the place throws new sights on it I have to re adjust them. I did shoot my work qualification recently and was shooting left by several inches and it was pissing me off. After it was over I looked at my sights and sure enough the were about to fall off the gun... still confused on that one it never happened again lol.
  5. Have gotten a little side tracked with work and getting over the flu but was finally abe to get a little dry firing in. Short 20 min session focusing on transitions and SHO/WHO practice with a little rifle dry firing as well. tomorrow will be able to get to the range and will be able to post some pictures.
  6. I decided to make this to document my progress all in one spot. A little about me, I have recently began shooting in mid 2015 when I became a LEO and quickly caught the shooting bug. Back in April 2017 I shoot my first USPSA match. unfortunately the weather was not forgiving and rained out most of the matches and only ended with 3 for the year. I am currently Class D in Limited at 37.7%, A102852. My ultimate goal would be to obtain the coveted GM title. But my short term goal is to make Limited C by the end of this year. Now this is where things get a little different, a big portion of my training will be going towards work related shooting as to make special team qualifications. So in all my matches I am running a full work duty belt with a level 3 retention holster and a stock g17 gen 4. As for training I will be going for daily dry firing and 1-2 times weekly live fire. Feel free to comment and critique. Today I was only able to fit 15 min of draws and trigger control with both my pistol and rifle. Not the best start of 2018 lol
  7. How do you not go blind from the light lol I got a headache just from the picture
  8. If you read the rules and feel comfortable then just show up and participate or if you do go to observe bring your gear with just in case. I always found having a buddy who also shoots come with eases any first time anxiety
  9. Key word was at the moment lol I’m using a chargemaster now. Constant calibration was the key to that scale and was only using for 9mm minor loads. I would not recommend a cheap scale for anything more then a temporary bridge to a proper scale.
  10. This exactly I’m already think should I get a bullet feeder or maybe just get a 1050 with auto drive.....but then I snap back into reality haha
  11. Dumb question but that wouldn’t void the press would it?
  12. Thanks for the photo I haven’t shot any yet but I got a case gauge and they all pass so when I get a chance I’ll see how they shoot. I’m in the fine tuning of all my does and the lee seems to hang up every so often so I may be going back to the Dillon. I am amazed at how quite this is even when I’m just dialing it in and going slow lol
  13. I’ll second buying direct, had my press within five days of purchasing. Like others said it’s always good to support local shops too
  14. Thanks for all the responses. I have decided to just use my lee die for sizing and it completely fixed the problem. I was more concerned withe the bottom bulging and the sides curving inward. It sure threw me for a loop
  15. That’s good to hear. Coming from the lee I never noticed this until now. Just for the heck of it I threw my lee de deprimer in the press and now they look normal again. So so what’s the difference between the lee and Dillon de primer die?
  16. 9mm with range pick up. no case gauge just use my barrel and they all fit without a problem. The bulge is happening during the sizing station it seems. Before i size them the brass is fine but once it gets sized or flared the bottom 1/4 bulges out. I'll see if i can attach some pictures
  17. I had to look up what that was lol. But yea it seems to be camming over, if i give it another turn after it being flush it will stop the down stroke. I have also noticed that the dillon de priming die seems to be flaring the bottom of the brass out to where you can see it bulging. So when I do a dry run all the way through the brass concave inward at the middle
  18. Dies are installed and it makes contact that you can feel in the handle then it goes slightly soft and travels the extra bit. It almost feels like it is flexing, hard to explain
  19. Hey guys just got my 650 and in the process of setting it up and have a question. Is there suppose to be any play in the downstroke? When lowering the handle the shell plate extends fully but the handle continues to travel for another inch or so, is this normal? I’m moving from a lee turret and when the shell plate extended fully the handle stopped. The press is securely mounted so there is no flexing on the bench. Any help would be appreciated.
  20. I actually just pulled the trigger on the 650 Sunday and everything will be here Friday, They actually shipped Monday which surprised me. Looks like we will be loading the same calibers but I just got everything for 9mm. This is what I got based on my research and needs. XL650 (of course) Strong Mount Case Feeder Bullet Tray Powder Check Roller Handle Tool Holder Set Extra Primer Tubes Spare Parts Kit Dillon Dies That is what I got from Dillon then I also got the vibra-prime to fill tubes, Starlight press light, unitech micro powder measure, then redding micro competition seater and crimper dies. That is what I found I needed after reloading on a lee turret press and shooting more then I could reload in a week. The guys here are not lying when they say you will end up shooting more once you start reloading lol. I went with all the micro adjusting parts since I will be shooting FMJ for work related practice and then experimenting with moly for practice/matches, these may be unnecessary for you. With the vibra you wont need the flip tray and a pair of harbor freight calipers has worked wonders for me and got them on sale plus coupon for under $10. I have found that I use the calipers for a lot of other things so a nice Browne and Sharpe might be in the near future........ I use the cheap FA digital scale and it works for my needs at the moment and got the FA tumbler as well for brass. I did not purchase the Mr Bullet but it is on my list. I learned quickly on the lee press that if something will go wrong it will until everything is set up how you like it. That was PITA so I held off on the Mr. Bullet until I have everything set up and see if I need it, plus xmas is coming. For components I go through powder valley like a lot here do, I just purchased a big order and got it in two days they are fast and have not had a problem. Everything is really personal preference I got 321 with cci primers its clean, hard to double charge, and works with my setup. Just pick what you sounds best to you. I by no means have as much experience as others do here so just take what I said with a grain of salt
  21. I liked the video, it has given me a place to start
