  1. Coated isn't better(or worse), it is cheaper...and not even that much anymore. Coated are great for Prod/CO/SS or just general plinking, maybe choose something else for a compensated gun that's going to get used a lot. The manufactures also state not to push them beyond certain velocities(depending on the bullet). Some people still use them for that without issues though, so see what works for you. I have shot Blue Bullets almost exclusively since I started USPSA 3 years ago, but I only shoot Production, SingleStack and some Carry Optics, barrels are all in great shape. Any evidence of leading in the rifling I make sure to soak and scrub out.
  2. How are the Romeo optics compared to the SRO? I am on the fence and leaning toward the 5moa SRO for my Shadow 2.
  3. Nope, just a competitor. But if the alternative is a single option on-site, you are in the same boat as a single sandwich option(using sandwiches as an example) but now tied to spending a certain amount if there is a minimum through the vendor. It was just a thought. The food at some of my last majors attended was bad enough I tossed it and ate a Cliff Bar. Maybe I am just jaded as to the quality of food that can honestly be provided, and I am not the only one that feels that way.
  4. Just stating what worked smooth in the past, not every option fits every situation, however the same effort to organize a vendor to be on-site providing X number of lunches could also apply to calling the local sandwich shop and asking to have X number of lunches be ready for pickup at a certain time or delivery to the range. Many places will deliver if you spend enough.
  5. Of course you have to feed or at least comp your staff for food. One of the things a local match did(Steel, not USPSA) was a Jimmy Johns order, pre-selected. If you wanted a sandwich, you selected it on entry and paid for it as an additional cost. All staff got sandwiches/chips included. Jimmy Johns/Subway/etc do not have a minimum order and you can have them delivered or have a staff member go get it.
  6. That is not what I was saying. I was saying not providing a lunch will keep the cost down.
  7. Taking a lunch or break is fine, however I don't see a purpose for match fees to increase for everyone due to the match paying for it for competitors.
  8. I have raced over the past 10yrs around the Southwest, Northwest, Alaska, etc and never seen a raffle. You do always get useful stuff in your registration bag though(nice waterbottle, tire sealant, patch kit, seatbag, race nutrition, etc) There however seems to be more of a cash purse at the bigger races for the pros. A couple I used to do have $30-50k split for top male and female competitors. Not saying you can really compare shooting to that though, just anecdotally mentioning ways other events are run.
  9. I could care less. I will try and catch it, if I don't I rarely pick it up, not risking accidentally grabbing a similar looking round that's 9major or going to cause me a malfunction in another stage. I rarely pickup 9mm brass during a match, have more important things to worry about.
  10. This is an interesting topic I have thought about some. Only been doing major matches for about 2yrs now and come from various other hobbies that had events/racing(mountain bike races, motorcycle racing, computer gaming, etc). The thing that surprised me at major USPSA events was the prize table. Never really seen that before other than like charity fun events that you could buy into a raffle, I would think you need to buy tickets if you want into the raffle, maybe a single raffle ticket is included at check-in but that's it. Use the money from selling raffle tickets and maybe some other sponsor donations(monetary or products) to give to the top finishers. The guys who always win are going to sell them off like they do existing prize table pickups. The match food is almost always sub-par, I see no reason for a lunch to be included, nor should a lunch break be needed. People would rather finish shooting earlier than stand around for 45min. Maybe include a voucher for a beer at the awards afterwards instead. Water/Gatorade in a cooler between stages is appreciated, it doesn't need to be bottles, a big jug is good enough to refill peoples bottles. If the match shirt is going to be a Beefy T that fits like a tent, nobody really wants it. If it can be a nice tech-t without blowing the budget, then that is preferred but not expected. I have way too many shirts from mountain bike racing that went straight to the trash at the event. Nobody wants a stressball and advertisements in a bag at checkin, fill it with match details and squad order instead.
  11. I have been running sport pistol for 9mm minor for some time(last 18krds or so) and love it. Starting to load 40major and have a bunch of Titegroup I need to use up but will test some Sport Pistol loads also. A local place has it for $131/8lbs or Powder Valley is about the same, we have done a few group orders from PV to smooth out the Hazmat.
  12. You can request the carrier deliver or hold it at a local UPS/Fedex store and pick it up/sign when you are able. Many times the Fedex or UPS store by my house is open until 9pm.
  13. Yea I noticed and was considering just going for a BOSS DOH and Bladetech to match my existing prod rig. I’ll probablt scrap using Safariland honestly, there are better options.
  14. Just bought a Dan Wesson SSC .40s&w. Great gun, excited to give it a shot after being primarily a production shooter the last few years. I have a Safariland coupon from Area2 this past year and would like to use it to get a USPSA legal singlestack holster. Their website is a bit uncertain as to which to purchase, even while entering other manufactures guns that are very similar(5in 1911, no rail). Anyone run a Safariland holster in Singlestack and know which model number to go with?
  15. A normal match I would consider as one that is sanctioned by USPSA and is running fully under the USPSA rulebook. My question was not about me moving on, I did that after the stage as such that I stated I did not question it there since it is just a local practice match, no prizes or classification, it was simply to ask what others thought of such a procedural penalty in the sense that many of us attend events with different rules(USPSA, Steel Challenge, IDPA, etc)
  16. Understood regarding that, but I figured this would be the best place to ask what the opinion was, again it was just a fun practice match they do every week, so I am not too concerned, just wondering how that would play out at a normal USPSA match, for which I have one this weekend.
  17. At our local steel match on Tuesday, which is based almost exactly on USPSA rules, there was a stage that had a mandatory reload that stated "make a mandatory reload while moving away from box A". I performed this reload while moving but finished the reload as I stepped into box B, it wasn't very far. I was given a procedural for this. I read the description again and it did not state "finish the reload before entering box b". For the sake of time I didn't contest it and just moved on, as it was only a practice match. I was wondering if this truly was a procedural or would it have been an allowed action during a normal match?
  18. This is the answer I want to hear. Thank you very much, will browse through and put in an order.
  19. I suspect this could be part of it as well. the 19 trigger is extremely well worn in and could be a different pull. However no way I try to use it, other than adjusting grip, can I get even semi accurate shots out of it.
  20. That should probably do it, any suggestions? Will check them out. What one do you suggest?
  21. First post on here, shoot both a Glock 34 Gen4 and a CZ 75 SP01 Shadow. Switch off between production and Limited minor USPSA. If this topic has been beat to death, please just point me to the best thread. I have always been a die hard Glock fan, have a Gen2 G19 with probably 40-60K through it, replaced worn parts and it's still going. Love my G43 also. I recently bought a Gen4 34 to compete with and have consistent problems with trigger reach, all shots push left. Unless I rotate my grip to be significantly less supported I cannot resolve this, and once I adjust my grip my follow up shots are not as consistent. I have tried all of the back straps and am currently using none as to reduce the grip. I thought it was me making mistakes, anticipating or something, but it only happens with this gun. I also shoot a CZ and do not have this issue, I am accurate all day if I do my part and have no problem reaching and getting a good center point on the pad of my finger to press the trigger. I feel kind of stupid, my hands are not tiny and they don't seem like I should have this issue, but it is most definitely there. I see that others have used aftermarket triggers or grip reductions for similar problems, however I feel this will not be production class legal. I am looking at probably selling it if I can't find a good solution, and just keep shooting my CZ. Any suggestions?
