Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I have shot a few matches under the 2017 rules. I am 63 and while I like most of the rule changes, I think the 1 sec rule is a farce! Shooters are dumping multiple rounds on target because adding an extra reload is less costly than points down, slowing down, even stopping or going back to put make up rounds on targets at the end of the stage. I assumed the fault lines would be based on the old cover rule, that is, extend from the center of the innermost target to the edge of cover and to infinity. One of the matches I shot the fault lines (2x2) were so far in it was almost lmpossible to lean far enough to engage the last target. Apparently from my reading of the rule the MD can arbitrarily place them anywhere. Maybe we need to hang hand ropes like USPSA!
  2. WSF, It is extremely versatile, It makes PF for IDPA/USPSA Minor with near minimum loads in everything from 115 gr to 147gr, It makes PF with loads at the bottom end of the pressure range, thus less wear and tear on the handgun, less muzzle blast, less perceived recoil, It meters extremely accurately, It burns clean, It is relatively cheap, Loads are modest volume wise, It is readily available, It has a more user friendly pressure curve, (not as snappy) as Tight Group and many other faster burning pistol powders.
  3. The 2017 IDPA rule book provides that a classifier shot in any semi-auto division establishes the shooters classification for all semi-auto divisions. BUT The Match Administration Guide states that a for a Tier 4 match, a competitor must have a current classifier in the division the shooter is completing in. So, can a shooter that classifies as a Sharp Shooter in CCP shoot a Tier 4 match as a Sharp Shooter in another semi-auto division? Or, does a shooter need a separate classifier for the specific division the shooter is competing in?
