Save the dates! Southern Utah Practical Shooters (SUPS) has been working very hard to get our range fully operational after major renovations and we are now at a point where it is time to schedule our large matches. 2021 Red Rock Rumble Our first large match since reopening January 2021 will be the Red Rock Rumble! This will be a USPSA 12 stage match. Early match is 30SEP-01OCT and main match is 02OCT-03OCT. The shoot schedule will be 8 stages day 1 and 4 stages day 2, followed by awards. I used to shoot there as a civilian but they’ve not had a match open to public for a year or maybe close to 18 months. Too bad, great bunch of guys and always a fun match.

That conversation has happened with our board and we are doing everything possible to make major matches possible as soon as we feel that the range and the shooting challenges we can present meet up to the expectations shooters have of matches at SUPS. I also know that the county wants to see large matches come back to our range...that’s why the invested like they did, although they could have invested smarter by listening to people who, you know, actually shoot and run large matches. But that’s water under the bridge at this point.

So I’m on the SUPS board and have been involved in the reconstruction process since the beginning. The county shut the range down in March 2020 for complete reconstruction to address some reported safety issues regarding rounds ending up over the mountain (a highly dubious allegation). The county did the design and contracted the work without any input from the SUPS board even though we repeatedly approached them with design input. As a result, all the berms were leveled and rebuilt so all shooting angles are now 180 degrees away from that ridge line. Also, the berms were built to ridiculous proportions (height). The bays are now very narrow and in some cases quite shallow. Some bay have significant downhill tilt (big safety trip hazard). SUPS was able to restart our local matches as of mid January 2021. Fortunately the county is now listening to our feedback regarding how they’ve mess up the range. They have stated they will make some berm changes per our requirements to host effective matches including level 2 or 3 matches. We do recognize that fixing the berms will take time and budget from the county. We (SUPS board) believe the fixes will happen but we don’t know when. We currently have 30ish bays available so once we are able to get the berms fixed we hope to return matches like Berry’s Steel Open and Uspsa major matches. I’m also interested in this. Anyone have experience fitting this to an existing 2011? Exactly what fitting is required? Edit: thx Nolan very helpful info.

I’m calculating about three years at my normal rate of training and matches. I live in the desert and shoot year round so the seasons don’t impact my primer consumption rate.

i shot a the north Arizona classic in Prescott this past weekend. At the chrono stage I was told to put three rounds in a mag and five more in a cup on the table. Then told to make ready. RO then told me where to position the muzzle and fire, read chrono, repeat and repeat. At no point did anyone handle my gun, mag or ammo besides me. I declared my bullet weight. They did not pull a bullet but said they would if I didn’t make power factor on my first 6 rounds.

Interested in a official answer. I’d have to imagine this will become a common problem at majors this fall and into next year.

I also run two pouches but you would be fine with just one.

Here's an unloaded start at match speed: Not sure the time to first shot but the total time was 6.57s with 3 Charlies. Mags are downloaded to about 18 (full is 21) rounds. I prefer using short mags for unloaded starts and mandatory reloads as I feel like I have better control with this than a big stick. This is a JP with Glock mags, which go straight into the magwell...I find the load on this gun is a bit more reliably fast than on my MPX due to the angle you have to insert the MPX mag.

Because we were using Nooks at the time for scoring devices and only had the one iPad which was used for registration / walk ons, arranging squads and other similar admin functions which would have been inconvenient at best in a nook.

My observation is that this function is not available on Android.
