Looks for Target

Looks for Target (4/11)

  1. SCSA Open division since there is no Power Factor. There are also a bunch running around in 3-Gun Open and also Open for USPSA Multigun. Some local matches you can even win shooting Open Minor.
  2. No but I didn't go straight from Glock to the ZEV. I used Gen4s for a bit then went into 2011 land and got the ZEV because of the grip angle. I will say the metal frame on the ZEV balances better and it feels like I'm shooting a glock with a WML on it. Just takes some dryfire.
  3. I use cheap alcohol wipes to wipe the lens down
  4. Depends on your load, you can get away with an 11lb and even 9lb with a 9mm 1911. With 147gr try out a 9lb and see if the impulse is what you like.
  5. P365XL with 507K and Grayguns Trigger along with Boresight Solutions stippling. About the same size as a 442 or Jframe but very shootable.
  6. I'll use local matches to try out different theories sometimes and also ensure my dryfire is honest. Biggest thing is to let go of your ego and focus on the process.
  7. Pack everything the day before so you don't forget anything. Let the match director that you are new and most people are going to help you get squared away. If you aren't shooting or the shooter on deck be sure to help paste and reset. Be mindful of the safety rules and do your best to focus on the process and enjoying yourself. Don't suffer in silence and don't be scared to ask for help, USPSA has some great people and a very supportive community.
  8. For home defense a light is important for identifying your target. I elect to use an RMR on my nightstand gun but I do practice and typically shoot dot guns, like the others mentioned you might be better suited with a good weapon mounted light and a good set of irons. The Swampfox (Liberty or Justice), and Romeo 1 Pro are nice since they have a shake wake activation. I have an RXS 250 I'm probably going to replace the RMR with when I swap out the batteries as it's top loader. Going with a dot will require you to change the batteries and also with a weapon mounted light ensure the intensity of the dot will not wash out with the light. Do you typically shoot glocks with red dots? If not you're better off with a weapon mounted light and iron sights.
  9. I like the thigh pad a lot, helps with keeping the gun at the same index and not move around as much.
  10. I have a 5 MOA SRO and even a 10MOA RTS 2 on the Open gun, I do run it dim and only prefer the bigger dot showing less movement. YMMV
  11. I prefer a bigger moa dot. I have a tendency to sometimes overaim especially if I see a lot of dot movement with smaller dots, also I find it nicer to dim a bigger dot vs brightening a small one.
  12. Thought I'd change mine all to my Open configuration but after some dryfiring and figuring out my indexes my belts are similar to my duty rig now. Two pouches in front of hip bone and straight up for consistency.
  13. Welcome, if you go on practiscore you can find some local clubs. A lot of good clubs in FL
  14. That's awesome work! I like the checkering a lot and the SRO is a fine optic for gaming.
