Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Now I have only lovingly fondled an SV (they are VERY nice guns indeed) but I have, however, owned a full custom Atlas limited gun in .40 for a little over a year now. I have easily put over 10k rounds down range and I could not be any happier with my purchase. Hands down the gun just runs. It does not seem to be picky when it comes to mags (I use a combo of MBX and old style STI tubes with grams guts), OAL of rounds (I have tried everything from 1.130 up to 1.200), or overall cleanliness of the pistol (I have gone much longer than I probably should on occasion between cleanings but still oiled before match/practice). Like everyone I had heard the horror stories of custom guns being ordered and needing to be sent back a few times before they finally "work" and I am very happy to say that I, as well as several other people in my section (Columbia-Cascade in the state of Oregon) that own Atlas firearms have never had any such issues. If I had the money to, I would not hesitate to send Adam my hard earned money for another one of his beautiful pistols.
  2. Forgot to mention they are the 40 mags, although I can't imagine there is much difference
  3. I have three of the new sti tubes with grams guts and they all work flawlessly. I honestly like them better than my MBX mags. You still have to modify the follower to not lock back but 5 minutes each with a dremel fixes that.
  4. It is not entirely stock, I replaced most of the springs to bring the trigger pull down a bit plus a fairly light recoil spring (8 lbs) for my powder puff (as my friends call them) minor loads. Other than that all the guts are bone stock. To answer your other question, it's kind of a tough call, there are certain things I like about the one over the other and vis versa. For example, with the Tanfoglio you can get a very high support hand grip due to the slide riding inside of the frame. That was one of the major selling points for me. On the other hand it is very hard to beat the 1911 style trigger and the overall ergonomics of the edge. It just naturally sits very well in my hand. But then again, so does my Tanfo with the henning grips. The best way I could put it is its like comparing a lambo to a Ferrari. Both are freaking fantastic, it just comes down to personal preference. If you can get your hands on a Tanfo to try out, I would highly recommend it. I swear by mine, but then again it never hurts to have both the lambo and Ferrari sitting in your garage ?
  5. I have been shooting a Tanfoglio Limited for about a year now in 9mm minor and I have never had a single issue. I'm a B class shooter shooting minor and the gun is more than accurate and fast enough to keep up with competitors shooting major a class or two above me. There are a few people in my area (Oregon/SW Washington) that shoot them so I was able to get a few opinions before my purchase and I'm really glad I did. The only thing I disliked about it was the width of the stock grips but that was an easy fix with a pair of the Henning low profile ones. That being said, I did just purchase a used brazo's semi custom Edge in .40 from a fellow competitor in my area because it was way too good of a deal to pass up ?
