Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I shoot Single Stack minor too, and have shot every gun you’ve mentioned, and owned a Range Officer, a Trojan (in 40, and I still own it) and a PM9. They are all good. For under $1000, the Range Officer is hands down the way to go. Good gun, but lacks a few niceties. Between the Trojan and the PM9, it’s a tight race, but I do slightly prefer my PM9. It’s mostly the frame that I prefer. The stock internals are good, although I have replaced mine with EGW stuff because they are known to last a long time, and I like the feel of the trigger break. I’d say, if you don’t care about forward cocking serrations, an undercut trigger guard, front strap checkering, or a .250 beaver tail radius, go with the RO. I do care about that stuff, because I’ve shot 1911s for a long time and have strong preferences. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. In 9mm I would opt for a SDC. There isn’t much recoil to mitigate with a LDC, and I feel they transition a little nicer (easier to stop on the target right where you look). For a major PF Limited gun, LDC vs SDC is more of a toss up for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Apex (I think) makes an extractor that is supposed to aid in more consistent and sideways ejection. The Gen 4 9mms do suffer from erratic ejection, sometimes launching a spent case straight up in the air. You might also try a slightly hotter load or a lighter recoil spring. 4. I wanted to share my experience with Sport Pistol so far. I’m shooting 147gr Leatherhead 9mms out of a 1911 for reference. Load is 3.4gr of SP at 1.150 OAL, making 910-920 FPS. As compared to Titegroup, it’s much cleaner, less smoky, and the gun gets less hot. The difference is very noticeable. As compared to N320, it’s noticeably cleaner and less smoky, but not as massive of a difference as compared to TG (of course). Group sizes were all roughly the same, although the tightest single group I shot out of this gun was with N320, the average ones are all very similar. Not hard to get sub 2in at 20 yards with any of them. All in all, I have not seen a downside to SP yet. It meters well, it’s cheap, it is extremely clean, consistent, and low smoke. I’m extremely happy with it, and will continue to use it until something else way better or as good and way cheaper comes out, but I doubt that will happen any time soon. This stuff is good. 5. Lighter recoil spring looks like it's necessary. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
