  1. I’ve changed my spring a couple times... through testing and as Adam says, find what poundage runs in your gun and stick with it. I do use the blue shockbuff. Just because the package says 8lbs doesn’t mean it’s 8.0lbs. I only cut coils if there’s excess coil bind when you push the whole recoil system through manually. The gun is not supposed to bottom out on a bunch of springs. It’s usually only a couple that I need to cut off if any. Mine will run at around 7.5-8lbs any less and it won’t feed right, any more and it’ll dip down on closing. I feel like the recoil/gun is softer/flatter at around 6.5lbs of spring but I can’t trust it The spring weight shouldn’t affect the accuracy tho, especially with 1 shot at a time?
  2. There’s probably lots of questions that people smarter than me might ask you... Just related to my experience with a chaos: is your comp loose at all? Misaligned? I’ve heard stories like this for both rifle and pistol that your bullets could be slightly grazing the comp on their way out. If both your ammo and your buddies ammo have the same accuracy results, it sounds like something to do with the barrel. My personal chaos had the set screw back out of the comp. it’ll loosen up after a few thousand rounds before I’ll re-loctite it again. Even loose, my bullets don’t touch the comp and I’m still accurate. I was told to send it back and they would weld it to my barrel but I hadn’t had a chance. Goodluck
  3. Everyone has their opinions on which factory style Open gun is the best/their favorite... It's going to be hard to convince you, as its personal preference to a certain point. i.e. tanfo/cz grip shape vs 2011 style shape A good idea tho, if your just getting into Open is: buy used. Dings on the gun don't mean much for performance and from what people say on Enos, barrels can easily see 100k shots before noticeable accuracy issues creep up. You can find deals on enos every so often. A buddy of mine sold an STI (well used but functioning great) with 4 mags and 2 barrels and an older DAA holster for somewhere near 2000$ That's the type of deal you might want to look into in my opinion. Also, if your not a tinkerer, new to 2011s, and/or you get frustrated easily: from what I've seen 38supercomp seems to give less problems compared to 9mm major (this is a generalization and from my experience with new guns straight from reputable builders). 9mm casings are finicky and it's been recommended by many people to find the brand that works for your gun and only shoot those. (which is hard to do if you plan on using range pickup brass) goodluck
  4. I’m not experienced enough with aftec to say yes or no.I heard it was top of the line in the past, but right now I see people switching away from it. To reply to the other comment about oal. The reduced oal under 1.16 was likely a bandaid to the underlying problem. Bullets weren’t going in for me due to the extractor tension. A reduced length got stuck a bit less often. I’m sure you could pull the length back out once everything gets sorted out, but I never did. I still load to 1.160+/- in my gun and it feeds just fine.
  5. Had the exact exact same problem all last year... It’s gotta be the extractor... too much tension is slowing down the round on its way up and into the chamber. For me, mine was cracked, so sometimes it had too much tension. Other times it had too little tension. Was very hard to diagnose due having signs/symptoms of both. Replaced and fit 2 new Ed brown extractors (one for backup) and the gun has been running fine ever since. FYI: I run the same bullet, oal, mags, as you’ve mentioned. 6. They all have their issues, rmr included... Remember they had to make a version 2 of the rmr because the battery would lose connectivity. I’ve even sent back a v2 that had the same issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Cutting the spring reduces the poundage tho right? Gotta be mindful of how it would affect the slide closing, etc...
  8. That’s msrp I think... it’s already posted for less. Still very expensive for a slide mounted optic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. No worries...just thought I’d share, as I just ordered one and received it this past week Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  12. Poly The SF needs some modification to allow for other guide rods to work. There’s a thread on here somewhere talking about it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Can’t confirm in the SF... But I just got a plastic q5 match this week and put in a rod from ssguiderods labled “q5”. I was told 320 and full size m&p springs fit. I ordered q5/320 springs from Wilson combat and the packaging doesn’t even say walther or sig... they’re straight up 5” 1911 springs and they fit fine. Currently experimenting with 13 and 15# springs. If the SF uses the same guide rod as the plastic, then yes for sure, the above would work... and the walther guys probably couldn’t endorse 3rd party products. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Looks to be very close to the same ride height... I don’t have an rts2... but I have a dpp and currently installing my new 510 right now. My dpp is .48” and my 510 is .5” without mounting plates or mounts, etc... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. @B_Seehawer Not trying to threadjack the OP... but that’s common sense. Shooting open, you gotta clean the glass pretty often. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. @memphismechanicYea I thought it might be battery related... Maybe it’s bc I took winter off, but once I started practicing and shooting again in January I noticed the dot was hard to see... it’s not the weather, as it’s pretty much always sunny in Texas. Changed batteries twice in the past two months with energizers... I just chalked it up to maybe my eyes. Me wanting the 510 was irrespective of my recent concerns tho. Had be interested in the bigger window size and finally decided to try it.
  18. Sounds good to me... I have one coming in this week. I normally run a deltapoint and am getting frustrated with the 2 moa... I could’ve sworn it was a good dot when I got it a year ago... but right now I feel like it’s lost its brightness? If that’s even possible... I peeked at a friends rts2 yesterday and it was literally double the brightness of my deltapoint... (it was a 6moa though) Looking forward to running the 510 soon. Thanks for your review.
  19. As someone who’s only shot open for a year or two, I’ve noticed a few things at the local/regional level... Guys who aren’t at the national level might perceive the footage of some nicely built 38sc guns to be better due to their flat shooting and fast splits. I think when your winning matches tho... accuracy is king and as long as the dot returns and you know your gun, it’s more a reliability/ease of use thing. 9major is just slightly less to deal with, brass wise, but it’s on average not as flat shooting... Which isn’t a big deal if you’ve come from other divisions, as a 9major will still recoil less than a limited gun.
  20. I heard hwansik Kim talk about buying a bunch of Rudy lenses to experiment with on ben’s last video podcast... he said he did see a difference but hadn’t settled on a color just yet... (he’s shooting mostly carry optics right now) After hearing that, I was curious and searched some past enos threads and they all sound like this one... some people recommend this or that, but no one settles on just one lens if they can afford it. I think the impact laser red or something like that was mentioned by hwansik for seeing the dot... this was after Ben mentioned he’d been using Oakley golf glasses off and on for the past few months and he notices a difference.
  21. I’d hope they up their durability. Here’s a pic of a Romeo on a duty gun. (Ofcourse you shouldn’t drop your gun, but...)

  23. I do not bad mouth atlas for my problems. Stuff sneaks past QC every once and a while I’m sure with all companies. Yea I have been frustrated for a long time, and my akai owner friends give me s#!t constantly... but, my issues might have been resolved more quickly if I had known the platform before I ordered my chaos, or if I had more open/2011 shooter buddies who lived near me. I live in a small town where I have to drive 2 hours to a decent match. Our local stuff barely qualifies as practice for USPSA. Instead of always googling the problem, a more experience person might have known what to look for whenever a problem arose. I’ve always been an advocate of buy once, cry once. An atlas was double the price of an sti but their quality/fit/finish is way better... so I don’t regret my decision. When you have 2 working guns at 2 diff prices ranges, it becomes obvious which performs better... It’s only when 1 works and the other doesn’t that you start to question your decision.
  24. responding to this week's comments: agreed with Chalee, every gun is different, especially in the 1911/2011 category. They're not glocks, you can't just use 1 size ammo or 1 bullet profile and call it good.... at least, you can't assume it works until you try. Similar situation to the titans above: I bought a 9mm chaos right when they started their 90 day turn around campaign 2 years ago? I literally had nothing but problems with it for a solid year. Since it wasn't a custom, I was given no instructions on what the "gun liked" as far as ammo, springs, power factor, etc... I checked enos, youtube, etc... for suggestions. Found out my chaos does not like precision delta's sharp bullet profile. I had constant failure to feeds. Also found out my gun likes to be loaded short, around 1.15-1.16 (this is the opposite of what Adam suggested to me months later. He says he only runs PD's in his guns and he loads long to 1.17) It likes montana's and everglade's bullet profile. Once I got that sorted out, the gun ran maybe 80% reliably. About halfway through my first year everything went bad. Had an issue with the trigger sticking back and both FTF and FTE. At one point I literally ran a 20+ round stage pulling the trigger forward to reset with my right hand trigger finger while simultaneously racking every spent casing out with my left hand. Adam suggested sending it back. He explained mbx mags are junk and I bent the trigger bow by pulling too hard? So ordered 3 svi mags and a new trigger + install from him, which totalled 700$+ That still didn't fix all the problems. turns out I had a cracked extractor. I had been experiencing the symptoms of both a tight and loose extractor for months... a local smith swapped it out and fit me an extra as backup. I could maybe have caught it sooner but I was totally new to the 2011 platform when I bought the chaos, I didn't know to look for such a thing. Edit: my deltapoint fell off twice last year... after the second time, I had order a new mount because the threading on atlas’ mount was stripped. Also edit: my comp is a little loose. Doesn’t effect my accuracy. the little set screw holding the comp stripped. And I shoot so much, even hi-temp loctite with primer causes it to come loose over time. Cat said to send it back and they’ll pin and weld the comp for free.... but paying fedex shipping back and forth has me holding out for now. Maybe if I ever sell it, I’ll get this done first. Finally after swapping all my mag springs out and running an actual 8lb recoil spring measured with a spring tester, (even though I like the recoil of a 6.5 - 7lb) the gun runs 100% with any mag brand or follower. (as long as I use the correct bullet profile and length) I wouldn't doubt that I had a bad extractor from day1 and that's what caused all my feeding or extracting issues. Sad part is, it wasn't caught by Atlas and had to be found by me/my local buddy 12+ months later. It was a rough 12+ months but at least I can say I know how to maintain a 2011 now, having disassembled it many many times. goodluck to everyone on their first 2011. I hope your experience goes smoother than mine.
  25. Personal preference... I reload 140s much more consistently. I carry 1-170 on magnet as a starter and 1-170 on my back Incase my starter mag fails and carry 2 140s for reloads/backup. My 170s hold 28+1 maaaybe 29+1 not reloadable. Usually works out fine, but last week another guy (higher ranked than me) shot a stage with a 30 rounder without a reload and beat me by half a second! I need to figure out how to do that.
