Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I just bought a new M&P like yours. It was doing the same thing with the jams. My problem was the striker was not retracting fully and was catching the rim of the casing, not allowing it to come up to a level position to slide into the chamber. I pulled the striker and the striker block, cleaned everything well. Found a couple of very small metal shavings. Gun is better now. Only jammed once in the last 100 rounds.
  2. I'm thinking about moving my reloading equipment into my "man-cave" in the house. The room is carpeted. My question for everyone is, does anyone have first hand knowledge of a primer detonating when sucked up in a vacuum cleaner? At price of a good vacuum cleaner, I don't want to blow one up, of course there is also the effect on the Wife if she is the vacuum operator. Keith
  3. Nothing seems to be wrong except it seems bad.. I am shooting 230 Gr RN & 6.8gr. of 800X. The load shoots well but shooting at an indoor range over a white table, I am seeing quite a bit of unburned powder flakes. Has anyone else run into this. I didn't see this problem using Unique. Any opinions out there?
  4. Members 1 posts Posted 20 March 2016 - 08:31 AM Recently I began having problems with my 550 primer system. Primers in the cup were occasionally upsidedown or on their side. I was told about the weighted primer follower and tried that. No help. When coming down with the shell plate I was hearing a small click. Followed up on that and found that the primer cup was not centered in the shell plate platform hole. The cup was catching a very little bit on the shell plate platform as it came down. When the cup slipped free of the shell plate platform the spring in the cup rebounded, bouncy the primer slightly in the cup. Sometimes the primer got screwed up. I spent a lot of time trying to recenter the primer cup. Also tried cleaning and lubricating. No help. Finally after sitting in front of the press for hours, studing, I found the problem. The "shell plate platform" which is under the shell plate & home to the little ball bearing had turned very slightly. The two bolts which hold the platform go thru holes which are a little to large which allows the shell plate platform to turn some fraction of a degree. I loosed the two hold-down bolts, took up the slack in the bolt holes. Primer cup now travels smoothly thru the shell plate platform and no more up side down primers. Ruffian
