I carry lightweight officer 1911 in both 9mm and 45 at times and don't feel I am under gunned. I carry a spare mag because of the limited capacity but that isn't a big deal. I shot 1911 and 2011 pistols in uspsa so the safety wasn't a problem. I like the feel and shoot the 1911 platform because they fit me so well and in a bad conceal carry situation, I think those attributes outweigh the extra capacity of the plastic guns. Tim

I don't understand why the rules don't allow for you to start with the hammer back and safety engaged. Many instructors teach that lowering the hammer is an ad waiting to happen and when lowering the hammer all the way down you risk a discharge if the gun is dropped. From a safety standpoint I think they need to look at changing this rule. If the firearm was designed to use a manual safety then that is the safest way to carry and use the weapon. I don't see any advantage for the shooter having to disengage the safety and it would be safer for everyone. Tim

I use cci mini mags but have had good results with remington golden bullets in my Kimber conversion. A glock conversion listed the golden bullets as the prefered ammo. Tim

Hello, Which model cz fits like a 1911 in the hand? I shoot single stack and would like something that feels similar to what I am used to. I saw the shadow 2 OR that could be used for limited and carry optic, how would it compare to the feel of a 1911? Thanks, Tim

I like the S&A for the same reason as Aircooled6racer, better feel of my grip. I do sometimes carry my 1911 and I like the smaller profile of the S&A for conceal carry.

I have used bayou bullets and vv 330 powder in a 16 inch barrel and haven't noticed any leading.

I talked to the guy about his gun today and he said it is a springfield xd. He has a gunsmith looking it over to see if it was a double charge or if it fired out of battery . I don't know if he will be able to tell what happened. Tim

Hperea, I have 3 Lawman and 2 uspsa single stack models that are older guns. I think they are built to tighter tolerances than the newer guns. If you look around you can still find Trojans and Lawman pistols used at reasonable prices. I got the Lawman guns because they are forged frames but I don't think you can go wrong with cast frame gun. Unfortunately, to stay competitive companies cut corners and produce items of less quality and always seem to want more money. Just the world we live in today. Tim

I have 8 sti- pistols and they have all been great for the money. Six are single stacks and two are edges and they have all run flawlessly. I'm not scaring any of the good shooters but that isn't because of the pistols. I had a rear sight problem with one of the edge pistols and they replaced the sight, went thru the gun and returned it in 11 days. I trust one of the 1911 pistols enough to carry it daily as a conceal carry. The older ones were great guns, I can't say about the new ones. Tim

Bayou bullets sold their 180 grain 40 cal. with a lube groove and I see they now have replaced them with a bullet with no groove, I have shot both bullets and see no difference in accuracy and without the groove you can load longer and not worry about the groove affecting feeding, Tim
