Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. It has the new cap system that allows you to have either one capped or open. Up to you. Priced right too at around $1k I think this is gonna be another home run for Burris. I have the 1-5 and am not sure I need anymore than that but guess it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
  2. Do you guys see any need for the dual focal plane option on this scope or is second focal plane fine?
  3. The reason they can ask so much and will probably sell it for so much is that Cali has the "safe handgun roster" if the guns are not on this roster (basically a way for California to extort money from manufacturers) they cannot be brought in and STI is not. The only STI's that will be available to Californians are the ones that are already here and if someone wants one they'll have to pay whatever price the seller asks to get it or they'll have to make another very limited choice. California politicians seem to know more about what is safe than actual shooters and now they say that any new guns to be added to the list will have to have micro-stamping on the firing pin which manufacturers refuse to eat the expense and tool up for such an idiotic idea. Many manufacturers are pulling out of Cali and our choices are getting less and less. We are however pretty good at finding ways around a lot of these idiotic and unconstitutional laws but I think until the politicians change the policies will continue to try to restrict or even nullify our constitutional rights as citizens.
  4. Yeah saw one in Cali selling for $4k the other day. Sad.
  5. Awesome responses and great info guys. Kneelingatlas the thread by CHA-LEE was an excellent reference and gave a lot of insight. Yes it is lightening I was asking about and why I asked is that some builders seem to do a lot of these cuts and others stick to very simple serrations and do not lighten the slide with the cuts so I wondered what the reasons were and now I can see that is has everything to do with how the gun is set up and contributes or detracts from recoil and speed. I liked the look but wanted to understand why some guns have it and others do not and thought there must be a reason besides the cosmetic look. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge! :-)
  6. So I was wondering what the pros and cons are of the aggressive slide cuts. I really like the way they look but am unsure how they would affect life and reliability of the gun. Would it cause more likelihood of stress cracks? Does dirt get in them and cause reliability issues. Does it help with barrel cooling or not? Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge regarding this.
  7. Thanks that gives me an idea. Buying a gun with around 15k rounds on it so seems like it will still last me a while before needing replacement.
  8. I've never shot out a barrel on any pistol or rifle I've owned but then again I am new to competitive pistol shooting and know these guns get run pretty hard so...Just wondering how many rounds one can expect to get out of a good barrel such as a Schuemann in 40 S&W before accuracy suffers or barrel needs replacement? I'd like to know based on personal experience not theory please. Thanks.
  9. I just got some from joeboboutfitters the thing I like is you can run dual or quad from the same caddy. Very nice quality and user friendly. Load of adjustments to make the work for you individually and I like the angle as well as the clips on top that overlap each other puts the shells really close together. I have short fingers but can quad load without fumbling with this setup. Very happy with it.
  10. I'm waiting for the Burris XTRii 2-10 for mine. The new XTR ii looks like a lot of scope for the $.
