Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. Thanks for the suggestions. It does not fall out when taking out the die. I will either push it out with something smaller or just leave it if that doesn't matter.
  2. I didn't want to hujack the other thread so started a new one. I got my bulge buster kit today and played with it for a few minutes after we got home. I have a most likely stupid question. How do you get the last piece of brass out of the die? Each piece seems to push the one before it up further, but when I stop there is a piece of brass left in the die that doesn't come out. The rod is not long enough to push it all the way through.
  3. I installed the Prairie Dog today. I was only able to screw it in part way, but it looked like the picture they had. I am just not sure how it will work. I put the loc tite on it and left it sit. I will see if it works tomorrow.
  4. I have one of the first generation plates and just couldn't decide if it improved the function or not. Is the new one working well? Do you consider it a big enough improvement to warrant the purchase?
  5. I chroned the rounds at 6.8, 7.0 and 7.2 grains of Longshot. 7.2 gave me average velocity of 1043, extreme spread of 61 and s.d. of 21. I then upped it to 7.5 and got 1066 average velocity, 43 extreme spread and 14 standard deviation. I didn't gain a lot of velocity by going up but did lower the extreme spread and standard deviation. All brass looked fine . I think I will stay there for awhile. It was a fairly pleasant load. That was a power factor of 213. I did not accuracy test, but point of impact seemed closer to point of aim at the higher levels.
  6. I ended up ordering one through ebay and will see how I like it. If I do, I will order another. I am going to have to get some red loc tite though, as I only have blue. Should have thought of that today when I was in town.
  7. I made a few rounds at 6.8 grains and test fired them. They seemed okay so I loaded 11 or so rounds at 6.8, 7.0 and 7.2 grains. If the rain lets up tomorrow I will get out the chronograph and see what we have and go from there.
  8. I would like to try some Longshot that I just got with my 200 grain powder coated cast bullets. Hodgden has only fmj load for 200 grain with a starting load of 7.0 grains and max load of 8.2 grains. Where should I start for cast bullets?
  9. I will be interested in reviews as I would like an easier adjustment. Shipping seems a little expensive.
  10. Doesn't seem like much difference except a little smaller standard deviation and extreme spread.
  11. The last 2 times I have been in Cabelas they have had magnum cci small pistol primers (and large for that matter), but no regular primers. Can I use the magnum primers and if so, do I need to drop charges any?
  12. Was at Cabela's in Kalispell today and they had Longshot, so I picked up a pound to try. I looked it up and it seems that it can be used in several calibers I load for so thought I would try it. Probably should have bought 2 pounds as powder suitable for pistols is not found here often.
  13. Was able to do a few more 10mm rounds today. Seemed to work well. Changed the press over to do 45acp for the wife. Now I wish I had ordered one for 45 acp alos.
  14. I ordered one of these recently and just installed it today. I then had to adjust the die as the new funnel is longer. It seems to do what is supposed to do as it seemed like I did not have to bell the case as much, but I only made one round. Looking forward to trying it more. I ordered one for my 9mm/38 Super from GS custom on ebay. It was a little cheaper. I will see how each one works. If they work then I will order one of those for 45 acp and maybe some of the revolver rounds I use. Anyone used either of these powder funnels?
  15. Good to know. I looked on their site but didn't see this option. They don't have the best website. I will be buying these probably at the start of the new month. Everything costs money!
