Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Hi, I'm hosting a pair of training classes with Ben Stoeger at the rather nice Brock's Gap Training Center in Birmingham, AL. If you don't know ? Ben is a world class competitor and full-time shooting instructor with years of experience. If you are serious about improving your skills and learning how to train more effectively in the future, this is a great opportunity! Fundamentals, Sat-Sun 11/3-4, $385, est. 1500 rounds Skills & Drills, Mon-Tues 11/5-6, $550, est 1500+ rounds I still have openings for both classes. For more information, see this PDF.
  2. Federals are also handy for the dark art of checking for pressure signs via primer 'flow' - they flow much easier under pressure than other brands. Old Fiocchi's were silver. Newer ones are gold and seem a little harder - from memory not from testing.
  3. Even Doodie has [double] standards, apparently. Imagine that.
  4. Current process works great with a wash-and-wax + citric acid mix, 2 x 20 minute sessions, no media. I burned up 2 Haror Freight cement mixers though and replaced it with a 'real' cement mixer that is much more satisfactory. If you go Hrbor Fright then be sure to get the extended warranty - you will need it to get your $ back.
  5. Yes...My 2 S2's and 1 Lim Pro ranged from 1.085 - 1.110" for 135 gr RN Bayou bullets.
  6. We do IDPA Classifiers quarterly. I rather enjoy them and hate to miss one. Its an excellent reality check, the only thing I hate is not being able to use my USPSA Production holster rig.
  7. Ah the joys of apartment living, where people like to store non-running vehicles in scarce parking spots. Once upon a time that was me, with a broke-down old van tat had a flat tire to boot. I so don't miss those days.
  8. The change isn't very difficult, but the tweaking and tunng of things to get it 'just right' can be a nuisance. Things like the nut on the failsave rod, swage station, primer seating depth, Mr. Bullet Feeder, etc. tend to dominate the nuisance factor for me.
  9. My last batch of 45 lbs of 9mm in a cement mixer, no media, I experimented with 2 10 minute cycles with a rinse following each cycle to get rid of the grunge before adding 1 tablespoon of citric acid and Wash-and-Wax. After 50 minutes I had the cleanest batch I have had yet, even the insides of the cases were noticeably cleaner than usual. I think all the range dirt/carbon/oxidation in the water interferes with the cleaning process.
  10. Similar experience, but many 10's of thousands of mixed 9mm range brass, minor PF. 2/3 case blowouts were Win headstamps. Didn't cause any issue other than light blast to face, gun functioned perfectly.
  11. My wife wasn't thrilled with polymer guns but loved my Stock 2...
  12. Lim Pro is highly under-rated relative to Stock 2 IMHO.
  13. Right, we should feel bad because we were too lazy to answer your questions, questions that you were too lazy to look up the answers for yourself.
  14. It works with a swage backup rod. I am curious what a contained primer detonation could do. How do the other presses (Ammoload, Camdex) mentioned handle this?
