Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. How is your shot calling ability? Nothing improved my speed like learning to call shots and you don't need a lot of lateral room to practice that.
  2. Cha-Lee, what data do you exactly have and how much do you charge for it?
  3. I have the same problem and use the Mr Bullet Feeder funnel. The solution is to use case lube. Once you start using case lube you won't go back, it reduces the effort needed significantly and the cost is much less than a penny a bullet.
  4. I have one, I would suggest you just save your money and when you have enough get a complete unit, it will be cheaper. Of course, you do realize there will always be something gating your output? I went through the same process and got the bullet feeder and then primers were the gating item so I got an RF100. Then I figured I was the gating item and got a 1050. It was faster but again I was the gating item so I got a Mark 7. I still can't reload fast enough and hate doing it so I play the lottery and hope someday I will have enough money to just buy factory bullets.
  5. Hmmm, when I became an RO I got a better understanding of the rules which helped my match performance. So I would argue that anyone who wants to improve should become one. Now, this is a different question than who should actually RO people at a match. In my opinion, it has to be someone who is not on a power trip, willing to help new shooters and is willing to inform a GM that they just DQ'ed themselves.
  6. I have been shooting them for several years and have seen no problem. However with that said, if you run the ballistics through a software simulator you will find that our long shots are not long enough to have much impact on a 9mm (wind, bullet weight variance, normal powder load variance, etc). As I recall when I did the simulations a 50ft per second drop in velocity resulted in a 2 tenths of an inch drop at 20 yrds. Bottom line, once you dial in your sights for your load it is typically going to be the shooter that is causing the issue. If you listen to the Ben Stoeger POD cast he has said the same thing many times.
  7. Every production holster I have owned has seen the dremel and heat gun. All of them can be optimized for the game we are playing. For example, in USPSA the holster only needs to go up to 1/2 inch below the ejection port. You can typically reduce the amount you need to pull the gun up to get it out of the holster by over an inch by taking material out of the front of the holster to meet this rule. Read the rulebook closely and mod your equipment.
  8. I think you answered your own question in your post, you found out that you need to practice accuracy. If you are going to compete at the highest level, you need to be able to dial up your accuracy on demand. I would look at this as a learning experience and work accuracy drills like the dot drill.
  9. I have GT 8" plates that I have shot over 10K rounds on with 9mm with no damage.
  10. I made up 6 PVC stands and I have about 20 different target configurations (some duplicates) that I can hang on them. They are cheap, easy to make, and don't damage wood floors or walls. They are also easy to store when not in use.
  11. I have two dedicated mags that I have painted the bases pads red. Then I load them up with bullets that have no powder, primers and bullets from a different manufacturer (sometimes bullets fall out when you drop your mags and you want to easily identify the dummy rounds).
  12. Yes, at least one a weekend. 1. This Sunday: Bayou Practical Shooters at Pacleb 2. 4th Sat, Generations at Area 59 3. 1st Sat, Kidlat at Pacleb 4. 2nd Sat, Area 59 Area 59 is South West. Pacleb is North West. All within an hour or so drive. Then you have the guys at Thunder who are primary IDPA but every once and a while will put on a USPSA match.
  13. I shot the match on Sat, do you know where the scores are posted on line?
