Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I'm still using my clamp from POA and I like it fine. Previously had the 'floating' one from MOA and had issues with it turning/loosening the tube during shooting so decided to try the POA 'locked' clamp that fully secures tube to barrel. Lined the inside of the POA clamp with masking tape as per instructions and put it on. I've put quite a few rounds through it now with no tube turning issues like I was having before. Everything is nice and solid. Don't shoot slugs as I'm primarily just a trap/bird shooter so can't speak to that. Never wanted to shoot this gun with extension tube with no clamp. Just didn't sit well with my brain, that tube sitting out there naked with no protection. Plus the clamp adds a cool look to the whole thing. Extension tubes/clamps aside. If I had it to do all over again, dunno if I would even have got the extension tube. It is cool as hell to have the extra shots and the look is pretty bad ass. But, breaking the gun down now for cleaning is considerably more time consuming being that you now have to remove the clamp and tube spring at each disassembly. Plus the added weight completely changes the feel of the gun. Then there is the explaining to the game warden issue if you went hunting with it (even if you only had 3 shots in the gun at the time, you'd have to see if the game warden was going to give you a break).
  2. Hmm. Guess I'm just going to have to find out for myself. I had the MOA clamp on it but wasn't comfortable with it cause it didn't contact the barrel. It ends up just adding some extra weight without actually securing the extension tube to the barrel. I just couldn't see much point in it being there besides adding a little protection. After shooting some rounds through the gun, the tube loosened up a little bit with that clamp on it, I guess from the vibration. Seems the clamp is acting as kind of a wrench turning the extension tube when shooting because it is not fastened to the barrel. The way my head works, I couldn't help but think that clamp was actually adding more stress on the extension tube than without any clamp at all. Went ahead and got the clamp from Nordic and will try that one. Personally I feel much more comfortable with it securing the extension tube and barrel as one. Since I mainly shoot trap with this gun, next time I go I will see if it affects POA. I don't plan on shooting any slugs with it. I talked through email with Nordic about this and they said they recommend the extension tube be slightly loose when securing the Nordic clamp (even though they don't provide any instructions about this with the clamp). They said in this way it minimized stress and POA. I also got another clamp from cheaper than dirt that is made out of plastic. This sounds feasible too thinking plastic might provide more give than metal and make the extension tube and barrel work together in a good way. Time will tell.
  3. Good topic. I'm way late to reply on this. I recently bought a +4 extension tube from MOA for my Stoeger M3000. I had also bought a tube clamp from them too. I put the extension tube on and then put on the clamp. Clamp did not touch the barrel at all. At first I thought they sent me the wrong clamp. When I talked to them, they told me it is not supposed to touch the barrel and if it did, there could be problems. So at least I know I didn't get the wrong part. So it appears it's not there to actually hard lock the extension tube to the barrel like I thought, it's more for protection.
  4. I've had my M3000 for over six months now and shoot it a lot. So far this gun has been great for me. Nothing I can fault with it. Good feel, good looks, shoots clean. I have the 28" barrel. Weight is just right, trigger pull is just right. No jams, pretty much just shooting target loads 2 3/4" - 1 1/8 oz - 8 shot. Have shot 1 oz loads also with no jams at all. Haven't tried 3" shells. I imagine those are going to have a healthy kick to them but shooting 2 3/4" is mild. I could shoot them all day and my shoulder just says, "that's it?". I'm always happy when I put it in my car to go shooting, look forward to it. Best $500 I've spent.
  5. I am assuming that this gun will also shot 2 3/4" shells? I'm really considering getting one of these and would really be mostly shooting 2 3/4" dove load.
  6. How about Montana Gold Bullet? I haven't used Precision or Zero but have used Montana Gold bullets (9mm FMJ) a long time and the quality is great. A little cheaper than Precision (if you buy 4000).
