  1. Just bought one of these, blade tech holster with his custom hanger. It clamps to the belt with screws, so if you don't have a double belt, it would be a pain. He has other options too. http://www.benstoegerproshop.com/mobile/Product.aspx?ProductCode=BSPS-Holster
  2. Because they have shooters using them in production, they must be legal! Well, maybe not. I don't know the rules like most here, so I won't say more. I have a vanek housing, took out as much as I can without disabling the trigger safety. If substantial changes are made, I guess you could make the trigger release the firing pin right after the point where the trigger safety would stop the trigger. At that point, you'd also have to modify the drop and FP safety.
  3. To remove the pretravel, he had to trim the trigger safety, no way around it. If you trim it, that is external and not production legal. The trigger safety will still work as trimmed, but not production legal. Watched his videos, I never saw him check the firing pin safety, not to say he didn't, or it doesn't work. You can check the firing pin safety by assembling without the extractor.
  4. South Florida Pistol Club is in Broward, shoots at Markham Park, good group. It's a USPSA club, they also run steel matches, maybe 3 gun too. Check out their website for schedule, sfpc.org.
  5. Do they pick the bullets up directly from the manufacturer to ensure they aren't dropped during delivery.
  6. That works better than I imagined when I saw the preview photo. I'd consider it if I bought brass that had military brass mixed in, otherwise, I'll just continue to use the old eyeball method.
  7. Interesting, maybe not as safe if your hand/finger weren't right up against the back of the slide. Try this on, skip to 1:15, get ready to laugh. Not a bad guy, making a good point, but this test is a little goofy.
  8. Nice shooting! I was loading Titegroup lite, tried some heavier loads and had much better success, though nothing out of the recommended ranges.
  9. Heat or simple green work as well. Had a wooden stock, left it out in the sun, dripped away.
  10. Thank you. The site is really slow at the moment, everyone must be shopping, I'll try again later.
  11. From what company? Midway? Directly; https://www.montanagoldbullet.com/ http://www.precisiondelta.com/
  12. For bullets, Montana Gold or Precision Delta, buy in bulk.
  13. I have the same problems when I put too many bullets in the tube. I only fill mine with about 15-20 bullets, fills to around the top of the hopper. I assume this would vary depending on the bullet type/weight. This is an easy thing to try, you'll know if it works fine with only 3 or 4 bullets, then just keep adding more till they start giving you trouble.
  14. Good stuff chibern, but the first video in the last post says it was removed. I may try that primer gate. The timer makes the cell-phone buzzer mod much more efficient, one less thing to forget to do.
  15. After you try Droc's suggestions, just make sure the chute is clean, sometimes powder gets in there. I blow it out with compressed air once in a while, you can buy the little can for blowing out keyboards. This is less expected, but I randomly started having similar priming issues. I could tell it was something with the chute. Took it apart, and there was a small burr right at the end of the chute, it was turning the primers on their side. I had already loaded a few thousand by that point, so it must have happened during operation, maybe the priming pin forced a primer back or something. Anyway, I smoothed it out and it worked fine.
  16. See posts 55 and 56. Not sure I understand the rubber band idea, but curious. There is a mod for the case collator, if you are loading 9mm. There is also a mod for the bullet feeder, which just keeps it from dropping a bullet if there is no case in the station. Both of these mods are on youtube. Congrats on the new press. The press will take time and some tweaking to get it running smooth, but it will eventually work. Good luck!
  17. As I posted earlier, I just put two zip ties on the rear right post to agitate the primer tray more, and that has worked for me. The problem is on some carriers, the metal rod on the primer chute does not rub against the post hard enough to fall into the grooves on the right rear post and shake the assembly. I have two separate carriers, one works fine stock, the second I bought for different calibers does not. The zip ties fixed that. I do like your fix, but it still requires you to hit the button.
  18. Good to know, thanks for the feedback. Haven't tried it yet, between trying to buy a house and the ammo I have, I haven't been shooting much, but always good to hear first hand feedback.
  19. Oh, I'm sorry, did my DRIVING interrupt your phone call?
  20. I've been using the spherical powders, HS-6, which yield better results. Just bought some Titegroup to try. I think static is the worst part with using flakes. When using clays (flakes), I had decent results wiping the hopper and the drop tube with dryer sheets, that definitely helped. I noticed, before using dryer sheets, the drop tube walls would be lined with powder. Just take the drop tube out, and twist a dryer sheet and feed it through a couple times. I've also added a baffle to the hopper. This is more for consistency of charges, irregardless of how much the hopper is filled. In general, I weigh the first few charges till I get a consistent sampling, then check every 20 or 50 rounds, depending on how consistent the charges are. With the spherical powder and baffle, most charges are within one tenth of the target charge, with a few two tenths from the target.
  21. Some tips, not directed at anyone in particular. The priming system works flawlessly for me now. Most problems can probably be cured with small zip ties on the right rear post to shake the tray, just like the little ribs that are cut into it. I had one carrier that wasn't rubbing against the post enough, and the primers would bridge in the tray. Be sure to use SMALL zip ties, as the large one's seem to be too much. Now both carriers feed fine, JUST HAVE TO KEEP THE TROUGH FULL. The bullet feeder has been good to me too, as long as I don't overfill the tubes. I drew a line on the tubes at the highest I can fill them and still feed properly. I also did the mod so bullets don't drop if there is no case in that station. You can find that mod on youtube. There is also a mod for the case collator, for 9mm and smaller cases. Just a square in the middle, also on youtube. I think it was mentioned here, but might not be that clear to someone just starting out on this press. I keep a can of compressed air nearby (like the cans for blowing out keyboards), and blow out the press every so often. I also do this to the primer trough, anytime it is empty. I will post up as I think of more tips. The press works, just takes a little fiddling. If you can understand how each component works, you should be able to keep the press running smoothly. I wanted to go "Office Space" on the press the first couple times I tried to use it, just walk away and try again later. Oh, and you should be alright with the charge bar, but anything under 5 or 6 grains, it doesn't seem to measure consistently.
  22. I could have sworn Michael said he hit 5, yet Colby said 1 of 5 again. The truth is somewhere between editing and Michael's word. Congrats Cliff on the shootout, that was good shooting and smart planning. I'd love to try that thing, though I'd be afraid of having NO BALLS!
  23. Cool show, but a little dry. Can't you guys plot against each other, or talk about another behind their back? Half naked girls, something... All kidding aside, just watched this for the first time this weekend, pretty cool. Being I've never competed, but have been considering, it is good to get more of a glimpse into how these things go. It shows more than just a youtube clip of someone running their stage.
  24. The easiest way to check for a shelf is to cycle it with the hopper off. You should be able to see if the disc is sliding all the way. Every so often, I seem to get static in the drop tube, below the hopper. I blow that out with compressed air and wipe with a dryer sheet. If I am having inconsistencies, I will give the press an extra tap at the bottom of the stroke. I have been getting more consistent charges after adding an RCBS baffle. Now, I don't worry about how much powder is in the hopper, as long as it is above the baffle. Not sure that would help you, unless you only have problems with the hopper full, just putting that out there.
