  1. Where is the closest nice and safe hotel to stay in for this match? Thinking about trying to make this match if spots are still available. Not many opportunities for me shoot a USPSA match with this many revolver shooters.
  2. I checked out the product since you were inquiring about it. The picture of the holder with the 45 ACP looks short for 38 Special and I didn’t see where there are options on length. I’d be interested in knowing whether they would secure the longer loaded moon clips.
  3. The Revolver came from a reputable revolver smith. I absolutely do not want this to come across as a slight against them. Everything works fine except for the random failure to fire. I broke into the guts and couldn’t find anything out of place or misaligned. I removed the firing pin and spring to ensure there wasn’t something going on there; ran a q-tip up in the hole checking for burrs; everything checked out okay. If I tear it apart again, will probably put the factory firing pin back in it just see if it eliminates the issue. I was not aware of the possible trigger stop issue so I will explore that possibility. Thanks for for the tips.
  4. Interesting that I stumbled upon this thread. I have two 929’s; one I bought already tricked out; the other I bought new and had tricked out. The one I bought tricked-out has never missed a lick. The other I never shot before sending off. It has a custom trigger, hammer, and firing pin. The main spring is on the heavy side and will set off any factory ammo. The crappy thing is it will occasionally not have a solid hit on the primer, i.e. can hardly see a mark on the primer, and I cannot figure out why tf this is happening. Timing is good; cylinder stop isn’t too tight. Disassembled everything and cannot see a thing wrong. It appears the hammer either isn’t delivering energy to the firing pin or the firing pin isn’t reaching the primer. I realize it doesn’t make any sense, but figured I would ask if someone else experienced anything like this. Short of putting all of the factory parts back in the frame, I don’t what else to do to get it 100% reliable.
  5. I run 2.6 grs of Titegroup with a 160 grn Bayou Bullet; shoots very accurately out of my 929.
  6. Thank you for your insight on the matter.
  7. Duly noted. I take it you run this sight? Any opinion on the white outline versus plain blade?
  8. Anybody try the Bowen Rough Country rear sight on the 929? If so what height do you need for the 929? Definitely going to try the Dawson front sight; one should be here this week. I ordered a 0.245”. What I’m shooting now is a little high with the rear sight bottomed out with a 0.230”.
  9. Both revolvers are in PA at Pinnacle now so I’m committed. So far our e-mail correspondence has been good and even got him on the phone on a first attempt. Mark led me to believe the turnaround on his work won’t be long. We’ll see what happens. Hell, nobody shoots Revolver! He can’t be that busy right??
  10. I have a 929 Mark customized; bought it from member; it is top shelf work. I want to do another 929, but I want do it with TK to do the action job. I want Mark to recrown my barrel and ball mill the underlug like he did on the 929 I’ve been using. TK isn’t set-up to do the barrel work. About a year ago I wanted Mark to do a duplicate 929 like the one I had, but I never could reach him so I just dropped the idea. Now I’m looking at going to IRC and I’d like to have a pair to go with me. I am optimistic my venture will work out.
  11. Well, that was the same experience I had as well. That said, I just got off the phone with Mark so he did return my call this time. He did indicate he had experienced a heart attack about a year ago and was indisposed for some time.
  12. Any wheelgunners out there know Mark with Pinnacle? I have been trying to reach him and cannot get him on the phone or get a return call from him. Any information would be appreciated.
  13. Glad somebody posted something on this product; I've been wanting to give one a try. I need another belt for my open gun set-up.
  14. I've used quiet a bit of Ramshot Silhouette to have a backup load in the event there was no N320. The "feel" of my major loads with Silhouette is on par with N320, but this powder doesn't seem to have a complete burn so you will see an accumulation of unburnt powder in your pistol after a couple hundred rounds.
  15. The match was excellent and very well run. The sponsors were great therefore the prize table was better than most any other USPSA match I've attended in the South. Looking forward to next year!
  16. Spread the word! This is too good of a match to not get a good crowd of wheel gunners.
  17. Thanks. Are you sure you are not a doctor??
  18. What's the deal with the speed bolt? What is it supposed to do better than a regular bolt?
  19. Anybody done any research and development relative to this topic? Different powders perhaps? I shot with a gentleman today using a 160 (not sure if it was a Bayou Bullet but it was coated with something dark); said he was using Clays, but I can't recall the load. Anyway, it got me to digging around on the forum to see what information might turn up.
  20. I tried to paste my spreadsheet into the previous post; that was a bust.
  21. 200 gr. Bayou Bullet New coating (black vs green) on Bayou Bullets seems to have an adverse affect on velocity, i.e. same load is slower. Will try 4.0 grains to see if that gets us closer to a 170 PF. 3.8 gr. N320 CCI Primer COL 1.195" Bedell 6" Old BB Coating New BB Coating High 842 821 Low 828 814 Spread 14 7 0 Avg 833 817 PF 167 163 0 This isn't very clean, but this is the results I got with the older coating and the newer coating. I have not performed any other comparisons since this initial test; however, I will definitely do some more testing before heading off to a major match. Each set data consisted of five shots. Regardless of speed, the bullets are still just as accurate and still my preferred projectile.
  22. Since I'm the buddy, I have a rebuttal to that comment. We all have an opinion and we will agree to disagree on this. I have a Doug Koenig SW1911 and I really like the pistol. I will say I started having issues with the pistol firing and I traced back to the Schwartz safety system. I took mine out and that problem went away. Reliability (jamming, double feed, etc.) has never been a problem with this pistol. That said, I recommend sticking with series 70 1911's not matter what 1911 you go with. Regarding the Performance Center, that is hit or miss. I would not spend the extra money on anything from the PC unless I fingered it first. Regarding the Kimber comment, you won't get much argument from me on that.
  23. Are you trying different slug loads or have you just stuck to one load? I take it you are using factory choke tubes and not after-market?
