Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I'll have a few date choices up in the next couple of weeks with options in Spring, Summer and Fall and look for feedback on the best possible date. There's a group of us from the Houston area that are very interested in the concept, and would love to shoot the match. BUT (and I can't believe that nobody has mentioned this yet) your original date, 11-2-2013, is the opening day of deer season! You scheduled a major for the opening day of deer season? In Texas? Are you kidding me? That juxstaposition of dates did not help with your participation level. You might think about schedule conflicts with hunting season when you go back to the calendar. And if you do, we'll plan on being there next time!! :-) Hope to see you then! Good Luck and Good Shooting, Tommy Being a wingshooter I missed that until a good friend informed he'd miss the match due to the conflict. I've learned the error of my ways for sure.

  3. It won't get pushed to a year out. I plan on throwing out at least a couple dates to get feedback with plans of having it no later than June 2014 (avoiding the brutal summer heat). Obviously avoiding dates with other major matches.
  4. It is with regret that I am announcing the cancellation of the 2013 Texas Shotgun Championship. At this time participation is not at the level necessary to fulfill obligations to sponsors and I have no expectations that they will meet that level prior to November 2. I believe this is due to limited time between my announcement of the match and the scheduled match date and I take full responsibility. The sponsors I have spoken with to this point continue to support the concept of this match and new sponsors continue to respond to my original sponsorship requests (Mossberg contacted me Friday to donate a JM 930) and I am currently speaking with experienced match promoters and sponsors to work on a date for Spring or Summer 2014 to make this event a reality. I appreciate everyones support and welcome any and all feedback and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. I would like to personally thank KNS Precision, AP Customs, Brownells, Mossberg and Beretta for their early support for this match and I plan supporting these companies and promoting their products in everyway possible in the future and hope you will join me. If there are any comments, suggestions or questions please let me know. Paul DeRidder TSRA Shotgun Director
  5. For those of you that have paid I will be sending out confirmation of receipt of funds before the end of the weekend. If you have sent in money and do not receive a confirmation before the end of the weekend please email me at txshotgunchampionship@gmail.com
  6. There are dirt berm bays also There are, but I don't think there are any you can get 125 yards out of. I think the max is more like 35 yards. Sounds like its Hosing paper with hard cover and no shoots mixed in. This will not be an test of aerobic endurance and there will be some hoser stages but there are larger bays and parts of the property where we'll be able to incorporate some movement.

  8. So for slugs at clays a 20 yard distance? Might mix a couple of them into a stage. That would be a good replacement for slugs into cardboard targets.
  9. You just need bigger targets. I think we've got a consensus that 75 yards is max though I wouldn't bet against the junior shooter above hitting a popper at 125yds.
  10. TBD but probably in the middle between what the pros want at 125yards and a good distance for amateurs of 50yards. So figure 75 yards but will know later this week as soon as we finish planning the stages. What Pros want 125 yards? 50-75 sounds great! They will remain nameless (actually 1 pro and 1 very good shooter) but 2 have mentioned 125 yards. Personally I've not seen a match with slugs beyond 100 but there are plenty of matches I haven't shot.

  12. Beretta will be bringing their demo truck to this match and we will have a bay set up for shooters to get their hands on the new 1301 tactical.
