Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. use (cande)soot to mark your barrel, insert the barrel in the slide and tap the barrellugs with a soft hammer. remove the barrel and see where you make contact. .042-.045 lock up is needed
  2. PC used to stand for performance center, now it stands for poor customer or poor casting... I have seen some horrrible MIM parts in S&W PC 1911's
  3. The wide (Gold Cup) trigger feels good for shooting bullseye. the disadvantage is the added wheight > triggerbounce and if it is a screw on wide trigger you need to remove the wide part before disassembly the gold cup had a wide steel trigger.. they god problems with lighter triggerpulls (trigger bounce) and added a spring on the sear later on Wilson made an alu gold cup trigger
  4. I had to mill the back of the bul magwell to accept the dawson mainspringhousing, rest if the fit was OK
  5. german frame and slide, KKM barrel. STI grip with griptape, BUL magwell, SPS/metro arms mount and slide racker egw internals home made comp C-more RTS2 V5
  6. is the fit of the barrelhood verry tight? I had an open gun with the same problem... only with VV 3N37 (no probs with 3N38 or N350) took .001-.002" from the lengt of the barrelhood and the problem was solved.
  7. an 1911 searspring can be to short/not wide enough for a 2011 grip I put the searspring upside down under water with the 90° lip just above the surface, heat untill it gets red hot and let it cool slowly than I hammer the lip from 90° to 45°, this way the searspring wil sit a little higher and keep contact with the sear
  8. yesterdat the first test... first load was just the minimum load of N320 with a 115gr Fiocchi FMJ. gun worked fine and +- 2" group ofhand at 25m. the standard STI trigger is way to long for me so I have to fit something different (Geppert Vario trigger) I've cleand the comp and put a new barrelcrown on the barrel... there where some "cleaning marks" on the barrel... now I have some .357 127gr TC bullet for test 2 (plated H&N bullets from Germany)
  9. SPS... bad parts, bad fitted barrels, pinholes to big. overall I think the Bul is a better choise than the SPS If you are in Europe the STP is the best 1911/2011... or get a descent custum build... but I see a lot of bad fitted barrels from custom builders in Germany and the Netherlands. gr T
  10. My 20y old les baer is HC... has some scratches from PPC schooting I have an 1911 in DLC, coating is worn out on the slide rails and worn from the "detent ball" from my gost holster My new PPC pistol is in Melonite/tenifer and is not as pretty as the DLC or Chrome but is not tested yet in competition DLC is a hard coating on "soft" metal, Melonite/tenifer makes a hard suface in the metal (surface) I would go for a chrome frame and melonite slide
  11. I just had one on my workbench... it was one of the more expensive models with the E² triggergroup frame slide fit was (verry) good triggerjob was (verry) good fit of the barrel... would be good for a 1000 euro pistol, not for a 4K pistol. barrel locks up on the link and the barrel had vertical play in the slide (comped barrel). just my 2 cents
  12. Hi I found the instructions on your website! thanks Tom
