Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. Also something 3 gun shooters and ROs will have to get used to is the "hammer down" command on the long guns, then put in the flag. Usually just show clear and flag in many 3 gun matches. 8.3.7.1, PCC: “Bolt closed, hammer down, flag”.
  2. From the "staging area", if one is allowed for by the match, there is not a requirement for a flag. I am going to highly suggest it at our matches, but by the rules if you have a staging area against a berm where shooters put their bags/carts and un-bag there (cart does require a flag) then they don't have to have a flag to the start position and back after the course of fire. PCC 5.2.1.6 Transporting pistol caliber carbines from the staging area to the start position and back to the staging area from where the shooter unloads and shows clear, the gun must be carried muzzle up or muzzle down with the bolt locked open or closed on a chamber safety flag.
  3. Thanks everyone for the info. I will pass it on to the steel match MD and we will post if they decide to affiliate. I run the USPSA match on the 4th Sat., the steel match is on the 2nd Sat. We hold the matches at Coastal Georgia Gun Club http://coastalgagunclub.com/in Brunswick, GA. About hour and fifteen minutes down 95 from Hinesville (I teach in Hinesville but live down this way). They are up in the air about affiliating but more of the shooters are getting into the going to the larger matches so the classification system will help with that. That said, I do know that they (I hope to shoot it some but usually am in Yulee, FL that day for USPSA) plan to shoot the standard stages and we just bought new steel for all 8 stages. The new bays we are putting in will be sized for the stages as well. The work starts on Monday. I am looking forward to the new and reworked bays for the USPSA matches as well!
  4. I have not been able to find any info on the Steel Challenge website, can anyone help out? With the new bays we are putting in at our club, the steel match MD (not me, I am USPSA MD) thinking about affiliating. I know that our USPSA affiliation is all that is paid there, but what are the monthly activity fees? Per shooter, per gun, per stage? Any info on classification? Will it cost more to turn in classification stages like in USPSA? Thanks in advance, just trying to get him some info. Tim
  5. Figure, right after I buy the barrel! On the plus side I did get a chance to put my cut down 35 block on and shoot it Sat. Only had a chance to shoot about 125 rounds. Felt really good with major 40 ammo and did not move with minor 40 ammo. Not sure if it really s recoiling less or it is just the front sight not cycling but seemed to stay on target a lot better than regular slide. Unfortunately with my complete tear of my ACL I won't be able to shoot it in competition for awhile though. I do need to move the rear sight over a touch, hitting just left. Also think I am going to need a slightly taller front sight to bring the impact down a little.
  6. What about the ejector? The 40 ejector is straight, the 9mm is "bent" in.
  7. A big sticking point with many of us back when this came up (in particular those of us running matches) was how tough measuring the trigger pull at level 1 matches AND also doing it accurately would be. We don't have the time for that at those matches, not to mention often not having a good location and/or personnel for the job. Would have been a nightmare.
  8. Just to make sure we have covered the bases, here is the applicable part from the By-laws: 4.8 Club Membership: A club membership requires that the club: i.) consist of 10 or more individual members of the corporation at the time of application, ii.) make formal application to the corporation, iii.) agree to conduct the minimum number of corporation approved contests annually as established from time-to-time by the Board of Directors under the rules and guidelines as published by the corporation, iv.) render the published results, together with appropriate activity fees due the corporation from said contests, to the corporation within 30 days of match date, and v.) pay the annual affiliation dues as established from time to time by the Board of Directors.
  9. The 3rd bullet addresses both uploading results AND reporting activity. We agree to follow these procedures every time we re-affiliate our clubs. The following is copied from the re-affiliation link for ALL clubs that use the USPSA name: CLUB AFFILIATIONS RUN JANUARY 1 THROUGH DECEMBER 31 EACH YEAR. CLUBS THAT HAVE NOT REAFFILIATED BY MARCH 15 WILL BE DROPPED. Please Read and Agree before continuing. We have read the bylaws, rules and regulations of USPSA/IPSC and agree to abide by them. As part of this reaffiliation application we further agree: • To hold Practical Shooting contests under USPSA/IPSC rules and regulations set forth in the USPSA bylaws, and to agree that all USPSA matches shall be open to any person eligible for USPSA membership, or any member of another IPSC region, subject only to 6.4.4 thru 6.4.5. • To hold a minimum of eight such matches, three of which will contain classifier courses, • To report the results of all USPSA matches held by our club within thirty days, and to follow USPSA policy in reporting activities. • To at all times abide by USPSA policies and procedures, including those that relate to USPSA licensed or produced property, • To return to USPSA all USPSA licensed or produced manuals, property, software, and merchandise upon demand from USPSA or upon failure to reaffiliate with USPSA. • To reserve the use of USPSA’s images and intellectual property for USPSA competitions and that activity fees shall be paid for all competitors at any match employing such images or property, or that competitors might reasonably assume to be a USPSA event. • The club understands that failure to follow rules/procedures will result in revocation of USPSA/IPSC affiliation
  10. Did LW charge you 30 bucks to ream it? They sent me an email asking me about it, I had noted it in the comments as well, and I emailed back asking about it and said I would take it as is figuring I can pay that locally if I end up needing to have it reamed. Got an email today and it had shipped but was charged for the ream, I assume it was done but not sure.
  11. Any club that runs a match under the USPSA name should be uploading their scores to USPSA, regardless of having a classifier stage or posting to other places. I am a USPSA MD/RM and my general order is: upload to the Practiscore website right after the match or while waiting for my food at the late afternoon get together after the match. I then upload the scores to USPSA that evening or the next day at the latest. I do wait for a few days to iron out any issues before uploading the classifier/activity report since that is harder to change. Payment is made immediately with credit card. There have been a few times when the report was not in on time for the next month upload since we shoot the 4th Sat. In general that was when I was out of town or forgot to upload after waiting a few days. Mainly due to also running a 3 Gun Nation club (actually co-MD) most 1st Sat. at a different range and getting confused and tied up with what I have done lately! Adding it to my calendar as a to-do has helped. All of that said, there might be a time or 2 when scores are a bit later and/or the activity report is delayed but what is being stated above is not acceptable. Every USPSA affiliated club who runs a USPSA match (not necessarly the occasional charity, non-USPSA, etc match) MUST upload the scores to USPSA and within a reasonable time all classifier scores. If not, talk to the MD and if not then move it up the chain. Just like running any match called USPSA must be run by ALL of the USPSA rules- the scoring must be done correctly. Anyone who goes to a USPSA match anywhere in the US should be able to count on certain absolutes across the board. And that is not IMO, those are the requirements or a club should lose their affiliation and run matches that are not run as USPSA. OP good luck and I hope you get some cooperation on this.
  12. I am the match director for Coastal Area Practical Shooters (CAPS) in Brunswick, GA. We shoot every 4th Sat and we WILL be having our match this Sat. We shoot at Coastal Georgia Gun Club, a member owned club that is open every weekend for various public matches (1st Sat- Scoped Rifle/High Power, 2nd Sat. steel match, 3rd Sat.- smallbore silhouette, 4th Sat- USPSA). Unforunately the gun club is not designed at this time to allow freestyle bays where we can practice USPSA type stages other than during the match. Our webpage for sign up and to get on the email list is http://www.capsipsc.com/index.phpand we have a facebook page for quicker updates. David already listed the other USPSA matches in the area- some also include St. Augustine where SAPSA shoots the 3rd Sat. Vixty, you might have been confused with the other club I co-md (a 3 Gun Nation affiliated club that shoots most 1st Sat. except for Jun, July and Aug), we did not have our normal 1st Sat. match due to SC but we are having it the 5th Sat. of May instead. It will be our last until Sep. Let me know if you have any questions.
  13. Alright! I sure do appreciate you rescuing that hat. It has untold numbers of hours on various ranges, waters and in the woods. Besides, you know Tilley will replace it if I have it. Supposedly one of their hats was eaten by an elephant, came out the other end and was sent it to be replaced. I will PM you. Thank you!
  14. Yep, I am guessing some shock still- along with bit of heat stroke. Shot all day Fri, RO'd all day Sat and Sun morning (stage 7). Granted it is south FL, but hotter than normal this early! Top it off with losing my Tilley hat (those who know me know it) either outside the hotel or at the match Sat. morning and spending 1 1/2 days with no hat (thankfully had a buff in my bag!) and I got a touch of sun. Challenging match with lots of longer shots. I got a great reminder of what happens when you are not prepared for a match. I switched from my 3.8grn minor 40 loads for 3-gun to 5.2grn major loads. No big deal at 7 to 10 yds, BIG deal out further though. Finally found out I had to aim very low out further- odd feeling to have to actually aim AT the No shoots on the bottom of a shoot target to get decent hits! Thanks to all the great squads who set the stage as fast as us 2 ROs could score it. It was RARE that we were not at Make Ready for the next shooter as soon as we recorded the score on the log page. That says a lot for the shooters at the match. Also thanks to the ROs who worked Sunday afternoon and Jay for making it so those of us with a longer drive could get on the road. Instead of getting home at midnight with a 0430 wake up, I was home by 8PM even with the slow going in the monsoon. Last, thanks again to USA for a great place to shoot and to the sponsors for supporting the matches and our sport. If by chance anyone found the hat, please message me! Thanks
  15. I look forward to what you find out. I have a SDB in 40 that I have used since 1993 and about 2 years ago I took it apart for a full cleaning and after had trouble getting enough bell. I have since taken it apart and could find nothing wrong a couple of times and finally manged to barely get enough bell. No idea how it was/is different though.
