Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Also an option to add a description of the drill you may be doing along with possibly adding repeat sessions of the same drill on different dates so that one can track progress. Aslo an option to add custom drills in a set programme (e.g. three or four different drills per day or session) for both dry and live fire along with your current best par time for each drill. One question from my side as I haev not seen it mentioned anywhere thus far ... Does the timer also show split times when you review your shots? I am already saving for one ...
  2. Great info thanks as I am also playing with the same idea. About the slide racker ... am I correct in saying that in USPSA you don't have to fit you limited guns in a box like the Standard division in IPSC? I was thinking about fitting a slide racker but couldn't figure out where one would position it ... that was until I saw your photos. I will probably only have to mount it square with the frame so that it fits the IPSC standard gun box ... What would you say are the advantages/disadvantages of having the thumb rest mounted flat like yours or at an angle like the *thumb rest [generic]*? Where can I get more info about the grip you are describing? Thanks for the great info ...
  3. Thanks Chuck ... how long have you been using it like this?
  4. Hi all I need some practical/experienced input please. I want to put a *thumb rest [generic]* on the Para Ordnance, but I have been told that the dust cover of the Para is too thin to reliably mount a pedal. I want to find out, from others' experience, if that is indeed the case or can I go ahead and mount the pedal? Oh yes, .40 S&W IPSC Standard division.
  5. Can I replace the target shapes with any other format of the IPSC Classic target? I am not a PowerPoint wiz, so pardon the extra quastions ... how do I edit the targets on the swingers? Ho do one buidl the moving target slides? I would like to build few bobbers, swingers moving accross a window, etc, as well ... I like this a lot. Tanks Robot for sharing ...
  6. I searched for answers first, but could not find any posts that answered my questions, so here goes ... What are the advantages/disadvantages of having a fibre optic insert in your handgun's sights? What are the points to consider/be aware of when fitting fibre optic inserts and are there specific brands that oushine the rest? Please educate me on this topic ...
  7. After reading quite a bit on the topic during the past few days it seems as if the only real contenders for a no-nonsense, high volume and affordable progressive press are the Dillon XL650 and Hornady Lock-n-Load AP. Can I please have your opinions and especially experiences with these two presses as they compare to one another and what would give the one the edge over the other.
  8. I also own a Pro 1000 and was about to ask the same questions about the Loadmaster when I came upon this thread. I have also heard that the load master is a b@stard to set up, but I was hoping that in 10 years, Lee would have been able to sotr out all the kinks and that one would be able to buy the press these days without any hassles afterwards ... I am in SOuth Africa and do not have the luxury of the factory being anywhere close to where I live Noylj, I hope you don't mind if I ride along on your thread, but here are some additional questions I have: I am however looking for a press with five or six stages to upgrade to so if the Loadmaster is not the answer, what do you recommend? I used a Dillon 1050 I was storing for a friend of mine for about a year, and to be honest, I was getting a 1000 rounds out faster with my Pro 1000 than with the Dillon. Maybe it was me who did not know how to use the press to its potential, but in the time it took me to prep all the tubes and stuff for the Dillon, I already had 100 to 200 rounds in the box from my Lee. And as far as all the safety gadgets are concerned, in over 10 years of shooting I never had any issues with either squib loads or double charges from my Lee. So basically I am mlooking for a solid, no hassle press that can churn out large numbers of bullets in a reasonbly short time that will not brake the bank. Any advice would be appreciated.
  9. Thanks for all the input guys. I am almost 100% sure the problem is the Glock brass (as indicated above). I will invest in a Lee Bulge Buster kit and run all my brass through it over the next couple of months.
  10. And Joe-4d, thanks for the very good advice ... when close to a problem one often looses perspective and want to do strange things to solve a problem. I like these rules by the way ...
  11. I was unaware of the term "Glocked brass" until today ... and yes, I think that is indeed the problem. About 10 years ago a frien of mine passed away and I inherited thousands of cases along with three of his handguns. It was at about thattime that my problems began ... and you guessed it ... he shot Glocks exclusiveley. So thanks, I think I found the problem, and to be honest, I am relieved. But how do I solve this problem now? The brass I inherited from him gout thouroughly mixed with my own so there is no wat to tell which are the Glocked brass except to check if there is any that I have not yet reloaded and that will bear the Glock signature on the primer. Is there a way to resize these cases back to a usable size? Someone on the IPSC forum suggested an undersizing die ...
  12. I have a limited gun built on a Para Ordinace frame, STI barrel and Caspian slide. The chamber of the barrel is extremely tight causing evering but perfect domension rounds to jam. How much can I have the chamber "opened up" to prevent this from happening and to make the gun function with ammunition in a wider tollerance range without affecting reliablity and accuracy? At the moment I throw out about 40% of all reloaded rounds as unsuitable when going through a barrel drop excersize. Any advice would be appreciated ...
  13. Thanks Wendy, I appreciate that. Photos and/or descriptions of anything interesting or time/effort saving will be of value ... I am tired of having a small team of people building ranges sweat for three or four days to set up a six or seven stage match
  14. I did a search and could not find anything relevant so here goes ... We are starting a new club in my town in South Africa and everything has to be built from scratch. I am looking for ideas, photos, drawings, etc for stage props that will make our lives easier when building the stages and keep things interesting and entertaining for the competitors and spectators. Any suggestions or references will be appreciated.
  15. Yip, it was the American Handgunner World Shootoff. I look forward to more information ... I will also see if the Walls of Steel link doesn't yield more useable information. What did these field stages consist of? Normal IPSC type stages?
