  1. This, mine runs fairly clean with little blow back on my face with Titegroup & my loads. Never thought about the left hand mag release when I built it. I shoot my 3-gun AR with an ambi mag and safety and never use them as learned on right hand guns. Never really have a lot of reloading in 3-gun or have time when moving, no real classifiers unless you shoot 3-gun Nation. gerritm
  2. My son had a TLR-2 red laser/flashlight combo for his pistol for night matches. I installed it and went out late yesterday afternoon to do some chrono & testing. Full sunlight. Started to wash out at about 10 yards. Got it zeroed and am going to shoot a LVL II match Saturday with it. Supposed to be overcast with chance of rain. I am going to order A Crimson Trace 206 green laser, but it will not be here in time. I will let you all know how it works. Will only shoot it on the right hand leans and weak hand shots. Hope no one goes "cat crazy" on me. gerritm
  3. Asked this in 19-2011 forum and no real answer. Hate to quit on finishing this project, but a learning experience. Installed an STI Gunsmith blank trigger and it worked out great in my son's 3-gun DVC. Smooth and crisp with very little pre-travel. Shot it Sunday in a match and all good. Installed the X-Line Vario trigger in my open DVC, tested it without the mag and all good, crisp pull, little pre-travel, about 2.5#. Did some fitting of the aluminum trigger shoe into the frame, but nothing on the bow. When I insert the mag, trigger is now very hard to pull. Mag still drops free. Can get it to click but very hard. Not the over-travel screw. Pulled the trigger back out and when you put a mag in the bow you can see it is very tight towards the front of the mag. Trigger bow fits nice in the frame, slides smoothly. There is a slight silver solder bump from where they attached the shoe adjustment screw thru the inside of the frame. What would be the next step. Open up the front inside corners of the bow slightly. Looks like that is where it touches first. Plenty of metal in the front of the bow to work with. File off the small weld. Not sure where to go next. gerritm
  4. Can you put the laser on for certain stages where it might work and then remove it for others? Thinking of trying one, but not sure I would want it one for the whole match. Use a good QD mount that will retain zero. I am partially blind in my right eye so weak hand classifiers and hard right leans are killing me. gerritm

  6. Fixed my problems by changing out the barrel. Like Eric said the barrel had a very short tight chamber/throat. Was really picky about what it liked. Went to a JP barrel and solved all my PCC problems. Did have a gas key come loose, red loctite & re-stake. gerritm
  7. We shoot a local 5-stage match within 1 big bay with 2-squads. 2 stages against the right side berm, 2 stages against the left and 1 common stage against the back berm. These are not huge stages, and movement is more lateral. Each squad shoots their 2-stages then we all shoot the common stage together at the end when it is safe. This stage is usually a large steel setup with a few paper targets. More speed shooting and accuracy. It is a fun match with about 30 shooters and around 150 rounds. gerritm
  8. Shooting an 8MOA C-More at 25 yards it is hard to cover the exact spot each time especially as you go out towards 50 & 100. Did some shooting at 50 with several of the loads and it was more than acceptable, but I was not trying for group size. Not sure past 50. Seems like the 98gr are the most consistent and accurate at 25. With the BB next. Dot movement is least with the light bullets/light load as expected, with the 147's next. Both are very close. I am going to do some chrono work to make sure whatever load I use for USPSA makes PF, but for outlaw and steel matches the 98gr Egglestons are hard to beat. I will probably not shoot these in 3-gun at longer distances, so I am not too concerned. gerritm
  9. Eric is running these 98gr. Egglestons in his CZ and he chronoed them with 4.0 @ 1.10 OAL and it made PF. Not sure exactly the number, but thanks for the info these are good starting points. Really like these bullets and they are cheap, $70 per 1K. Like the colors. Easy to load straight once I figured out to bell the case a little more. No real lead or fouling, either. Very accurate. gerritm
  10. Did the plunk test before I installed the barrel on everything loaded we had laying around from 1.08 115's & 147gr Extremes to 1.16 124JHP from my open gun and they all dropped and spun. Settled on 1.12 for the 147 BB's cause that is what we are loading for my son's DVC and 1.10 for the 98gr. Surprisingly the 98gr with 3.3gr Titegroup have knocked over all of the steel including the big poppers with no trouble. Probably will not make PF for USPSA. Need to bump it up to about 4.0 to make PF, but for all steel match it was great. Very soft. They all pretty much shot in the same quarter sized hole at 25 yards. Muzzle movement is very flat and with the KAW Linear comp it is straight back. Transitions are about the same even though it is heavier. Best thing I did was to go to the JP barrel. PCC has been running 100% now with about 1K rounds thru it. Having fun shooting it. gerritm
  11. Tested 3 different loads at 25 yards last weekend. 3.0gr Titegroup/147 Blue Bullet, 3.3gr Titegroup/98gr Eggleston, & 3.6grTitegroup/115gr Extreme RN. All shot in the same quarter sized group. The Eggleston felt the softest with the BB load next. Love the JP barrel. gerritm
  12. Installed the STI gunsmith blank flat trigger in my son's DVC & it worked out well. Seems like it has taken a little of the creep/pre-travel out and may just be a tad lighter. Did a stipple job on the face. Will shoot it in a match this weekend if the weather holds off. Installed the X-line fit in Flat trigger in my open DVC and it took quite a bit of filing on the aluminum trigger shoe sides to get it to fit in the plastic grips, but turned out good. Looks clean and feels nice. The bow fit fine with no adjustment. Will shoot it this weekend. gerritm
  13. Many of us use carts as we started in 3-gun and it is hard to carry everything needed without one. Our only concern is that with the muzzle up when and if you tilt the cart to move it you are sweeping everyone including yourself. Even with the chamber flag and all it is deceiving and disconcerting to have a muzzle pointed at you. We all have them angled or pointed down. Most of us bring the cart to start area and take it out muzzle down or to the berm to remove so you do not sweep anyone trying to raise it up. A couple of newer to rifle shooters started out with their carts this way and have since changed them to point down. gerritm
  14. Do you think it is a combo of the light trigger & heavy spring/buffer? Mine is the opposite. I have a Hyperfire EDT trigger which is a little heavier with the Taccom 2pc PCC buffer and their light AR spring and have no problems. Another one of our shooting buddies had the same problem as Bill. He was running a light trigger with a heavy long buffer and spring and it went to double and triple. Changed to the lighter buffer and spring and has no problems. gerritm
  15. What is the difference between the 9/38SC Aftec and the 38super? I have an Aftec out of a 38 super with very little rounds on it and need to change out or adjust the stock one in my DVC 9mm. Starting to get a random FTE. gerritm
