Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. That's crazy and really unfortunate! Agreed, very unfortunate, and also a bit crazy. I went down that slide a couple of times before shooting, and I didn't break anything, but it wasn't like a playground slide where is tapers off and stops above ground... it was a straight shot to the deck. I wonder if it couldn't have had some curve at the bottom like a playground slide?
  2. sb3, at least my performance at the match wasn't the only bad joke out there..
  3. AtomicFerret, was that you up on top of the platform on stage 6? We talked a bit about CA, I shot there right after lunch today. I agree, fun match! I hope no one else breaks their leg on the slide!
  4. Good evening, I am a newcomer to this forum, and a relative newcomer to 3-gun and other "action" shooting sports. I live in Hillsborough, and I've shot IDPA at The Range (although it's been a couple of years) and I have been a regular at the 3-gun matches at the Durham Pistol and Rifle Club. I am looking forward to shooting other 3-gun matches at other clubs too. My shooting history is mostly NRA Highpower (Distinguished Master) and CMP Vintage Rifle. I look forward to being a regular part of the forum. There's a lot of experienced folks here and I'm glad to be a part of a good group of people. -Rob
  5. I just tried this today in my Millett DMS-1. It was brighter with 2 2016 batteries, but not so bright as to be "daytime illuminated". A worthy experiment, though. -Rob
  6. Danny, I'll probably use gun socks while in this setup, but the square tubes didn't touch the guns while standing still in the garage... :-)
  7. Thanks for all the kind replies. I agree about hot barrels and rain protection. I figure an old towel or a couple oven mitts would provide heat shielding, and that I'll pack a big garbage bag for tactical rain protection, like I used to do in cross-course high power. Hey, at least I don't need to pack a shooting jacket, mat, and spotting scope!
  8. Living The Dream

  9. Greetings, I'm a genuine newbie when it comes to 3-gun, so I find myself looking at all the gear that I want, and prioritizing what to buy first, etc. One small stumbling block that I hit, though, was that the 3-gun carts that are based on jogging strollers are all too big for my tiny car. I've got a Porsche, and not much room to haul goodies for the match, so I needed to come up with something quick for the match this coming Saturday, and I think I've done OK for myself. It's an open topped semi-rigid tool bag from Lowe's, a folding handtruck, and some bungies. A quick dry run seemed to indicate that it'll work, too. Pro: 1. It stands up straight, even with no weight in it but the guns, and seems quite stable. 2. I can take it apart and fit it in the back trunk of a Boxster 3. It's modular, so if I need to add an ammo can under the tool bag, I can. Cons: 1. The tires are lame for gravel, but better than nothing. I've learned this from going up and down Viale at Camp Perry. Wish I could have the air filled knobby tires with this. 2. The bag seems a little small, I might want to get a bigger one, or maybe just strap a tacklebox under it. 3. I might be limited to two, maybe 3 long guns on the cart, but it's still within the scope of my needs. Anyway, thanks for listening. Maybe this will help someone somewhere down the road.
