Calls Shots (8/11)

  1. Frank passed away this week. He was a high school classmate of my dad. And, I'm proud to say that I knew and shot with Frank. If you've picked up a gun magazine in the past 25 years, you've likely read one of Frank's many articles. http://www.clapperfuneralservices.com/memsol.cgi?user_id=1656670#.VfnPZps2WQY.facebook
  2. I started shooting Bianchi with 40 in a 5" SV. As others have said, the best bet for bullets is the 135 gr Nosler. On my best day, on sandbags, I was getting 50 yd groups ~1.5". I took this to the cup in '04. I shot poorly. But, not because of the load. Start by simply loading the 135 over whatever it is you use for Major PF load for a 180 gr bullet. You're looking for 1000-1050 fps. As long as you're getting decent accuracy at 25 and 50 yds (bias towards 25 yds - all but 24 of the 192 shots are 25 yds an closer), try pushing the velocity closer to 1100. This will help with leads on the mover. The other thing to consider is recoil spring. I use a 12.5# with Major PF. With the 135, try a 10#.
  3. Gents, Has anyone of you loaded up and tested the 115 JHP from Precision Delta? I'm mostly familiar with Zero's. These look to be conical like HAP and the new Zeros. TIA
  4. Congrats to all of the winners, but especially Kevin. As nice and generous as they come. Way to go!
  5. I need another external, portable, hard drive to use with my MBP. My last was a LaCie Rugged, but I've been reading a lot of horror stories about their reliability (same with Drobo). What are you using that has FW800 connectivity?
  6. Did TGO not shoot this year?
  7. Just seeing this...yeah, all the shooter sees is wood. But, rest assured there is metal between you and the muzzle.
  8. Click Here to View Web Gallery of Photos These are straight out of the camera, so no post-process crop, color correction, or sharpening applied. If anyone wants a printable copy, email me at slow1911s at gmail dot com. Please include what size you'd like to print - 4x6 variants are the easiest (e.g. 4x6, 8x12) It was good to see and say hello to some familiar folks and a few new ones. I hope that next time I'm shooting bullets instead of the 1D. dp
  9. I can't show up with a gun (tomorrow), but I can show up with a camera. Will anyone be offended?

  13. Tac-Force makes a great, well-built, double long gun case made of ballistic nylon. I can put my 20" AR and Benelli M1 (w/ +5 ext) in. There is a large storage pocket that is big enough for a Dillon pistol bag, AR mags, and a few pistol mags. Nice big, padded, carry strap, also. Tac-Force D.T.S.
