I went with a Dan Wesson DWX and had it milled for a dot.

I quit and sold it all when I burned out and got old to boot. I started back in when I turned 65 and shot PCC for a short time. Got cancer and almost died, but I hung in there. Recently sold my PCC and just bought the gear to give Limited Optics a try. I have been shooting just for fun for years. However, the competitive side of me is looking forward to winning LO in the Distinguished Senior category.

I am at a stage in life where I am starting to understand many things that I never even considered just ten years ago. I am now 68 years old. Two years ago I had stage three colon cancer with a prognosis of "poor". I had surgery, and eight months later the cancer reoccurred in my colon, and it had also wiped out most of my bladder. Along the way I had a couple of hernias, kidney failure, non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver, twisted guts, blocked bowels, and the list goes on. Yesterday the biopsy on my nose came back as skin cancer, but that's nothing in comparison to my other issues. I have a new Dan Wesson DWX being milled for an optic, and I'll be giving Limited Optics a try in the spring if I am still physically able to safely navigate courses of fire. I have learned to get right with God, treat others with dignity and respect, and to enjoy the life I have left without regret or self-pity. Life has been a great ride and it isn't over yet. I didn't read the entire thread so this might have been discussed. How about making Limited a minor division with major scoring to make up for not having an optic? FWIW, I am 68 years old and I haven't shot irons in years due to failing vision. Fifteen years ago, I was a GM Limited shooter so I do have a pretty decent handle on skill development with major vs. minor. The better shooters will rise to the top no matter what the power factor.

How explosive are you getting from point A to point B and are you ready to shoot as soon as you get to point B? I have aways shot on the move when ever possible.

Limited GM in 2005 at 50 years old. About a year later I was moved to Master for medical reasons so I am an A class shooter across the board. For instance, if I started shooting CO I would be classified way above my ability level in A class no matter the scores. In theory I could ask USPSA to lift the freeze and go "hero or zero" with a borrowed gun and make paper GM in both L10 and Production. How egotistical and narcissistic would a person have to be to pull a stunt like that?

I have astigmatism really bad. After playing around with a bunch of sights, I settled on an Eotech.

I have a 10 inch Wiland that I picked up at Sportsman's Warehouse. I added a comp and buffer system Brekke along with some other goodies and it works great, but I too had to lengthen the throat. I also have a shory Wiland and tube that I turned into a low PF carbine for Steel Challenge. Throat is short on that barrel too, but it works fine with 105 and 95 grain bullets.

A little follow-up on my friends MBX Pro. He has tried every conceivable combination of parts trying to get the carbine to short stroke. He has also tried a half a dozen different bullets with various types of powders. Bottom line, no way the carbine will short stroke without jams from hell every few rounds. Long stroke, no problem. Short stroke isn't in the cards with this carbine.

A friend of mine got an MBX Pro just a couple of days ago. I met him at the range today to help him break it in before he short strokes the carbine. We shot about 950 rounds through the thing in the last two days. The loads were 147 grain Zero and 124 grain Montana Gold. I like the MBX a lot. Most importantly, zero malfunctions for the first 950 rounds with no cleaning. Splits in the mid teens consistently put the bullets about 1.5 inches apart at 12 yards.
