  1. Someone misspoke. Its the bullet that puts pressure on the slide lock to activate it prematurely. The follower activates it appropriately. Mark
  2. Sounds like the Apex made striker block is interfering w the striker. Can test this by installing the OEM striker block. Mark
  3. Yes. https://dawsonprecision.com/search.php?search_query="Jericho"&section=product Welcome.
  4. WxGuy, sure its not an ammo problem or a loose RDS? If really a bad barrel maybe S&W will replace it.
  5. Just remembered that I changed the followers in my older m&p mags last year, to the newest version, as the older version would sometimes hang up on the slide lock tab. Compare the mag follower that is in the problem mag to a known good one and see if the follower is hanging up and interfering w dropping free.
  6. Just tried and no issues. Try a different 17 rounder?
  7. Resurrecting an older thread as I noticed the dot jumping to the left just a bit while dry firing, even when pushing the slide closed prior to actual trigger press. This seems to have gone away when I switched to the Medium/Large backstrap from the Medium backstrap the 2.0 Compact typically wears. Will try it live fire and see if POI changes and more importantly if my accuracy and times improve w the larger backstrap. Mark P
  8. FWIW, there are places that build up the lifter in front so that they no longer bite the finger that shoves new rounds into the mag tube. Glad Jerry got Mossberg to get the factory to design one that starts that way. A lot of the 940 changes over the 930 are clearly based on Oregon 3Gun after market parts for the 930. Hope Mossberg pays them royalty fees. Mark
  9. Am surprised as that has not been my experience with both 3 1.0s and 1 2.0 M&Ps. Why not take a fired case, resize just enough to snugly hold the bullet you are using for reloads, and insert into barrel (out of the slide) till the base is flush with hood of barrel, barrel point up. Push out round and measure. If grossly short, consider using a different profile bullet or reaming chamber. Nitrided barrel is really hard but Memphis Mechanic on this site has done this for members in past. Mark
  10. Probably on a glock forum, but I would not recommend trying to install the complete G21 recoil spring assembly in your M&P. If you know the spring weight you are currently using buy the G21 equivalent and install on the M&P guide rod. OEM spring is held in place by a machine screw. As long as internal spring diameter is greater than M&P guide rod diameter, it's an easy swap. You can measure the M&P guide rod diameter and ask spring manufacturer for inside spring diameter.
  11. Don't have your particular pistol but had a similar experience w my 4" m&p 2.0 compact. Wanted to try out different weights of recoil springs, not much of a selection available for the compact, but lots available for another 4" pistol, G19. Guide rods for both are close in length and the springs for G19 fit perfectly on the compact guide rod. The G21 has a 4.6" barrel so guide rod should be very close in length to yours. Cheap experiment to see if G21 springs fit your OEM guide rod.
  12. Check the "gun springs" subforum for a thread that is very similar to what you are asking. No need for duplicates.
  13. Weird, as that part is not stressed much at all. Was it ever bent by chance?
  14. Apparently Springer Precision is also selling a guide rod, and springs. 14-22lbs, supposedly for Echelon and XDM, 4.5" and 5.25" versions. They probably know what stock spring weighs. Mark
  15. Guessing the thin projection that is present on the OEM bar is what broke off?
  16. Have a 550 as well. Had to play w wire spring position so case is trapped w slight pressure, yet shell plate cane rotate without interference from spring. Shell plate can be the cause, if it has play Fine balance in adjusting the center pivot bolt. Went w an aftermarket roller bearing washer, but that is overkill.
  17. FWIW, having a magazine containing rounds loaded w 147gr bullets vs 115/124gr bullets will change the recoil impulse by virtue of the added mag weight. How much is debatable but is part of the experience.
  18. No experience w any electronic in the ear hearing pro, but just looking around found this: https://www.envirosafetyproducts.com/3m-peltor-eep-100-electronic-earplug-kit.html
  19. Noticed this particularly w 230 gr hardball. Trimming slide stop helps, as well as creating a small dimple for the spring loaded plunger/detent to engage. Mark
  20. Why not ask the tungsten rod manufacturer/seller which brand if springs are the best fit? The rod diameter was selected w a spring in mind
  21. Can't speak about Timney or Overwatch, but have an Apex metal curved forward set in my carry/IDPA 2.0 Compact. Crisp 3.5 lbs trigger pull. With the very light weight pre travel, the actual break is not a surprise, so feel comfortable as a carry trigger.
  22. Yeah, this is not rocket surgery Best to practice on spare plastic pieces. U practiced on magpul magazine clip on covers. Used masking tape to get straight edges. Do outlines first then fill in. If you go too fast tip cools off and impression is not deep enough. Need some ventilation or fumes will be inhaled. Have a brass brush handy to clean tip periodically so impressions remain sharp. Mark
