  1. If you are in Southeast Michigan and want to compete in USPSA/IPSC, Steel Challenge and IPDA then contact me about events at the Wayne County Raccoon Hunters club in Romulus. 2 minutes from the airport. Look up our club here on the forum. I will put my group up against any club in the country for being friendly and competitive all at the same time while hosting the best matches around.
  2. Get with your core group of staff and shooters-talk to them about it as they will be the ones that help you put it on and pay for it. My range has run a 300 +round match (numerous times), a 400+ round match, a 500+ round match and the 600+ round match over 2 days and 18 totally different stages just to prove that it can be done. (not recommended if you want to keep your staff happy though...…) See what your group wants to do and shoot. If you have good stages, competitors will make the effort to come and shoot them for the right price. Run it as a level 1 fun match and enjoy.
  3. A standard magwell from STI will work for most. If you have a metal grip, you may have to ask for the IPSC compliant version from that manufacturer as you gun with the magazine inserted has to fit in the IPSC box so you will have to use either 124 or 126mm magazines with the angled base pads on them in order to fit. Depending on the size/brand of tube and spring/follower set up, you should be getting 17/18 rounds in the mag +1. Don't forget that your rig has to be set up pretty much like USPSA production division when it comes to placement and you should be good. Too bad you don't live further north, as you could practice a bit by shooting in Canada. Everything is L10 there but it is IPSC rules besides that...…... Some of the biggest differences are no drawing and dry firing on multiple targets, no walkthroughs with aiming devices in your hands (almost anything can be considered that) and 3,2,1 stage set up/round counts. Typically there will be a weak hand only stage, a strong hand stage and somewhere you will probably have to go prone to shoot something. Much more technical than USPSA matches as they are lower round counts. Good luck with your gear and match!!!! Go, have fun and do well.
  4. Eugene, Thank you for showing us the new toy!!1 I think 6 of my guys have already ordered them with more on the way I bet. 1 for each bay I am betting soon......ahhhh...the joys of technology!!! Thank you to all that came out and supported our efforts. First it was the range set up crew. They were incredible. They set up 9 level III stages in just 2 hours. Our Crew just gets what we are trying to do and they all pitch in to make it happen. We couldn't do it without each of them. The stages were deceiving as they seemed easy and simple. Till you look at everyone's scores and realize that the hard cover, no shoots and distance really took a toll on people's scores. Second-a big thank you to Geoff Siembor for being Mr. Stats and Registration. It is a thankless job but someone has to do it. 3rd specific thank you goes out to Rob Gaffney for helping me with everything as usual......even while losing his Mom as she passed away shortly before the match. 4th-to all the competitors who come and make this a great opportunity to have a blast!. thank you for all making the effort and then thanking my staff for doing it. That really helps. We look forward to hosting the High Cap Championship in October (27th) where many top shooters in the area have said that they will come, so when registration opens in July, don't be shy. Get registered so that you can join us for some fun and laughs. And maybe even some great shooting. We look forward to seeing you out on the range. Regards, Roy
  5. Take my advice...….get the tungsten guide rod from Springer Precision and the 14lb recoil spring they recommend. IT makes a huge difference. Then order up the Grey Guns trigger kit. That will give you about 90% of the full in house trigger job from Bruce or Robert Burke (the 2 guys who do Sig triggers). At that point, you have gun set up and done right pretty much like Max runs his. I actually just wrote an article about this for USPSA's magazine. Can't say enough good things about Scott Springe, Bruce Grey and Robert Burke...….now if only I could actually shoot my CO gun like my 1911's...….At this point, they don't sell magic sprinkle dust to help me. Best Regards, Roy Neal Team SV Infinity
  6. Sunday, April 28th, 2019....IPSC 66 (also known as the Wayne County Raccoon Hunters Club in Romulus, Michigan) will be hosting our first ever Southeast Michigan Lo Cap Championship for Single Stack, Production, L10 and Revolver Divisions only. 9 stages, 230+ rounds in a 1 day format for a $60 match fee of American Funds (just an FYI to our many Canadian competitors). This is our normal shooting weekend so nothing special has to be planned for by those that try to make out match every month. For those $60, you will get a the above mentioned 9 level III stages, 230+ rounds, plaques for all recognized divisions and most classes and entry into the gun giveaway raffle that we have. We are looking to give away 2 1911's and 2 polymer guns to by random draw to any competitor that pays their match fee. (if you DQ at the match, you are out of the drawing...…..). We are only planning on having up to about 96-100 shooters maximum, so look at practicescore to enter your info and send your check with match entry fee to me (info is on practiscore…...or you can call me or email if you have further questions...). If this goes well (and we think that it will, then in October we will have the High Cap Championship for Limited, Open, Carry Optics and PCC) then we can start making this an annual type of event to kick off the outdoor season and possibly end the outdoor seasons here in Michigan. We look forward to seeing you out on the range as we host our monthly matches this year. Clear sights and crisp triggers to all. Roy Neal
  7. If you have taken JJ's level I 2 day class, then you have the opportunity to take the 2 day Level II class that my home club is hosting this upcoming July 11& 12th, 2019. Class will be held at the Wayne county Raccoon Hunters club (IPSC66) in Romulus, Michigan. Pretty sure that the cost of the class is going to be the same as the level I class ($600) per student. In case you fell off the planet earth last year, JJ won IPSC Open Nationals, US Open Nationals, Limited Nationals and finished 2nd in Production at Nationals. Not a bad year...…...so if you liked his level I class, then here is the opportunity to spend more time with the energizer bunny himself (I swear he can't sit still....it must be a blessing and curse) out at the range working on your shooting techniques. Get a hold of me as we already have 9 confirmed for the class from last year and can take a few more. I a twisting his arm to stay another day and shoot our monthly steel challenge match with us so that we can all feel worse about ourselves as he crushes our times......nothing like that as an added bonus to the class...…………….. Best Regards, Roy 248-790-7233
  8. Your mags would be fine...…..power factor is different as major is 170 versus our 165 but that shouldn't be a big deal for an open gun. Other than that, Open is Open...just limited to 10 rounds mags in Open. Sent you a PM with a point by point walkthrough overview on what you would need to do to attend a match. it is a lot like international basketball versus the NBA. It is still about putting the ball through the hoop but with small differences. Plus you meet a lot of great people and see parts of the world you might not have without going for a match.
  9. As members of USPSA in good standing, US competitors do not have to complete the black badge course. I would be willing to help any USPSA member that wants to come over and shoot this match as I will be attending this match. I have done the paperwork for most of the Americans the past few years and now many can do their own. The cost is only and additional $25 (Canadian $$) at this point to do the paperwork (ATT..Authority To Transport) and it's not that big of a deal. The hard part is getting your mags done right to only hold 10 rounds as everything in Canada is 10 rounds only. The Canadians go out of their way to help, they party like rock stars and you can actually drink the water in a foreign country that allows you to transport your own guns to a match. You never know who you might run into at this match...…...and the friends that I have made over there are priceless. Many top US shooters have made the journey north such as Chris Tilley, Jason Kuhn, Manny Bragg, Travis Gibson, Mike Gynra, Eric Kamps, Les Kismarti and many others. IPSC is just a bit different but it is still a great time and you will be glad that you made the effort.
  10. The match should be entertaining as usual and is filling up fast on practiscore. Please be gentle when driving down the access road as the road has not hardened up yet. Parking should be easier for everyone but still be kind and don't take up 2 spaces with your 1 vehicle. We look forward to seeing you out on the range!!!
  11. The first outdoor match of the season for the Wayne County Raccoon Hunters club (IPSC 66) is scheduled for this upcoming Sunday, April 22nd. The match will be our typical 9 level III stages (all field courses) and 254 rounds if you don't miss. Cost of the match will remain the same as last year ($25 for non members and $20 for members). Sign up is via practicscore and goes live today. We can only take 100 competitors as a max, so please sign up if you can attend. Taking a slot and not showing up hurts fellow shooters who want to attend. If you don't show up and do not make arrangements with us prior to the match, we expect payment for the match fee at the next match you attend. If you don't want to pay the fee from the previous match then you will not be allowed to shoot till that debt is paid. Please remember to be kind when you park and not try to take up multiple parking slots. We have extra parking in the grass lot on the right hand side of the entrance road before you make the turn into our main parking lot. Range check in (you do have to do this in order to shoot) begins at 8:30am. Please do not hassle the staff before then to check in and pay. Give them some time to get things set up for you. Competitors are allowed to walk stages provided they give the staff room to finish hanging targets and they do not move any of the props (including barrels, walls, tables, chairs ect.....). It looks like winter may finally break this week and be half way decent for this time of year. The 5th weekend of the month, we also have a 2gun match at our club. (pistol and rifle only). Only room for 60 competitors as it is 6 stages/300 rounds. Cost for that is the same $25 for non members/$20 for members. That will also be through practiscore starting next Monday after the pistol match. We look forward to seeing you out on the range!!!
  12. If you guys like and follow Charlie and have questions about his new training book, then look for my review of his book in the May/June Issue of Front Sight magazine. Charlie was gracious enough to send me a copy for a review. As Charlie knows, I was happy to review it and write a very positive article on Charlie and his training book. If you have thought of upping your game, his book is a great way to start. Order one today. You will be glad that you did. Roy Neal Team SV Infinity
  13. I was told this morning that the overflow requests to get into JJ's class are almost at the point of having him extend his trip and teach an additional class on Wednesday and Thursday's June 27-28th. So if you are serious about getting into JJ's class, get a hold of me and I can put you in touch with JJ's wife who handles his bookings.........
  14. As many of you are aware because you are in our private Google group lists of emails, JJ Racaza is coming to the match and putting on a 2 day class after the match (Monday and Tuesday June 25th & 26th). At this time we have 1 more opening in the class (10 students is the max). Cost of the class is $650 and 1000 rounds over the 2 days. if you ever wanted to take a private class with JJ at a range near you, this would be the opportunity to do so. Please get in contact with me so that I can refer you to JJ's wife for scheduling and payment of the class deposit. Just one more reason to attend this match. We look forward to seeing you all out there...............
  15. Looks like we will have a block of rooms for competitors at the Detroit Metro Airport Marriot as I talked to them today. So for those folks who would like to stay in a nice hotel for a nice price and that is close the range (less than 5 minutes), this would be a great opportunity. Initial rates are $109 per night (Friday or Saturday) for a King bed and $119 for a Queen........as soon as they give me the one contact person I will put that out here for you guys.
  16. And we are happy to have you John......thank you. We look forward to hosting many more of our friends..........
  17. Sent Riley a PM today asking him to contact me at my office if he has questions. Happy to answer. As to the above, the program is underwritten by Conifer Insurance Company of Birmingham, Michigan. If you are not familiar with them (and most folks will not be), they got their start many years ago doing liquor liability when no one else would. They do just about every bowling alley you see out there and used to be "the official' PBA insurance company. In other words, they are not afraid to take risks in area's that others go running and screaming away from. The head of their claims dept. is an attorney that was shooting with me on a weekly basis and we would talk about this while we were together....he thought we really had something and brought me in to talk to the insurance company owners. After careful consideration, they agreed that we had a great idea and we got started with this program back in 2013. If you have further questions, do not hesitate to contact me directly. I am not on here all the time.
  18. The funny part is that Bobby has already filled out a Gunbuilder for a new SV single stack......can't wait to hear the griping start about the "new" waiting period when he submits that build to the factory. Ahh....the addiction club has a new member.
  19. awwww.......Thanks guys..............we do offer a better program than the NRA endorsed program or ANY home owners policy because the program was written and designed by ME for ME. So if I trust it to take care of my SV's and JP's when I travel for instance, then you know it is done right. Our program doesn't have the care, custody & control exclusion that ALL standard insurance companies have in their policies. What that means is that if we cover you heater for $5,000, you get $5,000 regardless if an airline misplaces your bag. With C/C/C, the standard insurance policy will only offer you what the airline says they will cover (delta is $2500 for example...for everything that is in the bag, not per item), so that wouldn't cover the cost of 1 of my pistols. So that is why we wrote our coverage to be different. We cover class III, accessories ect........plus we offer liability insurance for those that have CPL's and carry a gun. Give me a call at my office. Let's see what we can do for you. We are gun people.....why can't we take better care of each other? Regards, Roy 313-535-7100
  20. Lots of applications still coming in....happy to see so many of our friends supporting us in this endeavor...........Get your application and check into us as soon as possible. I want to see this match fill up as soon as possible.
  21. Working on many sponsor deals for this match as we want it to be....well, just a bit over the top........keep the applications coming in. We are looking forward to hosting this match, shooting it and hanging out with so many great friends...................
  22. Eugene, There is this thing called a telephone where you can call folks up and talk to them directly and ask questions such as yours so that your issue can get taken care of asap............just a suggestion........besides, I already sent you, Andrei and Andrei a personal invitation via email directly to you...................seriously-next time just call me. It's not like you don't have my phone number......safe travels and we will see you on Sunday!!!
  23. Dennis, We look forward to having you compete at the match!!!!!! Same with you Fitz and all the rest of the crazy Canadians that attend out matches. We are blessed to have so many good friends from just across the border.
  24. June 22-24th, 2018 Wayne County Raccoon Hunters Club (IPSC66) (www.ipsc66.org) will be throwing our 2nd Berm Fund Racer Match. 12 level III stages........300+ rounds..........full catered BBQ lunch by the same place that did our last Berm Fund match where guys were licking the plates like starving wolves. Staff shoots Friday, competitors shoot either Saturday or Sunday....only 250 competitors allowed into the match because even though this is a level I match, our prize table is going to be $40,000. We are giving away 60 guns by random draw at the match. 8 for the staff, 2 as raffle pistols and 50 to the competitors. That means 1 in every 5 competitors walks away with a brand new firearm just for attending. Plenty of other SWAG will be available as we want to show our appreciation to the competitors who come out and support our club by attending our matches. I am working with one of the large Detroit Metro Airport hotels to see about blocking off a bunch of rooms for that weekend. Keep in touch with us as the match dates get closer so you can take advantage of that offer. Match will start around 8:30am in the morning and we want everyone to be off the range by 4:30ish.......we will have dedicated staff on each bay, scores done by practiscore will be up and available each day. Plaques will be awarded for each class winner provided enough competitors in each class. For the Division winners we are working with Brazen Sports to do a custom engraved watch as their prize just to be a little different. Many of the industry leaders are our friends and will be offering support to our prize table. SV Infinity, Sig Arms, Glock, Springfield Armory, FNH USA, CK Arms, Phoenix Trinity, Akai Custom, Armor Express, Nitro Ears, Weaponshield and many more including TechwearUSA will be helping support this match. The Motor City Showgirls might show up and lend a helping hand again this year which I know will break so many hearts. For those of you who attended our crazy first Berm Fund Racer match in 2015, you will be delighted to see what your match $$ helped purchase. The Dog pond is no more and that entire area is now 3 large pistol bays that we will be using in this match. Proceeds from this match will be used towards redoing our inner bays and towards the addition of a new 200 yard rifle/3 gun bay that we want to construct. I look forward to another great event as I am hoping to have over 20+ plus GM's attend this match. Many of the top shooters you have only seen on TV or magazines will be attending and available to shoot with. So get your applications in quickly as this match will sell out.
